360 Car seat for new born and upto 0-4 Do they exist

Tomfirsttimedad · 05/07/2021 21:37

So I've been doing lots of research for our due soon new born and I'm trying to tick all the boxes and struggling.

I would like a car seat that can swivel "360"

Be removable so my in-laws can make use of the seat.

Have a handle as I'm guessing the first 6 months there going to be sleeping a lot so out the car and into the cot as smoothly as possible

Then be adaptable to last till there 4 or have the same base so I can buy a new seat once there 6-18 months.

In an ideal world be compatible with a push chair although not a deal breaker as I know there not supposed to be in there more than 30 minutes.

And last of all in one deal 🤣 budget for the seat or seats is about £600 with pram £1k

Or am I better off just focusing on new born seats then replacing after 8 months to a year ?

AFAIK the 360 seats are all fixed seats so can’t be lifted in and out as it’s the base which swivels if that makes sense so that is fixed in place to the isofix. So if you want a seat you can lift in and out you’ll need a newborn seat then if you want you can move to a swivel

For me the infant car seat then switch to a new 360 seat later worked really well for a couple of reasons:
If you've got a seat with a handle you won't need the swivel function (just take the whole thing out of the base).
I don't think there's a swivel that's travel system compatible (happy to be corrected) and I found being able to nip to shop, GP etc with car seat on pushchair frame really handy.
360 seats are bulky so although if isofix you could swap between cars it would be easier with an infant carrier and an extra base for the grandparents' car or indeed just use the seatbelt instead of a base, just find a good instruction video on how to do this safely.

Maxi-cosi car seats are very good and are compatible with most travel systems as far as I know (may need adaptors). We then got a Joie 360 when DD outgrew it and to be honest it has a few things I don't like but the spin is really useful now she's older.

Maxi Cosi and Cybex both do infant carriers that can swivel and then you use the same base with the bigger seat from around 15 months.
Maxi Cosi Pebble 360
Cybex Cloud Z

Bellyrumble · 05/07/2021 22:05

Cybex do one (cloud Z) which is about £270 and the base is £200 on top. The base can then be used with their 0-4uear (or 0-18kg) sirona seat, which is around £240 I think.

We were gonna do this as the cloud Z was compatible with our pushchair but we decided we weren’t bothered about the travel system so we opted for a joie Ispin 360 which we got last week and that’s 0-4 but stays fixed in the car.

Ordered it from John Lewis as they had an offer and boosted this with an additional 10% off when we bought pram from them too as had nursery appointment.

We’ve since bought a maxi cosi seat (not swivel) because the base was only £30 on clearance, ans we have 2 cars so we’ll get the use from 2 seats.

Long winded sorry, but yea Cybex do what you’re wanting, it’s just expensive if you’re not gonna use the travel system bit. I’d Go for a joie ispin if you’re not bothered for the baby seat/ travel system compatibility, completely depends on your lifestyle! Good luck

Snowbind · 05/07/2021 22:06

We have the cloud z and it’s great - also lies flat which is handy for when you get home and they’re still sleeping (better for them to lie flat if napping for longer)

Anon08 · 05/07/2021 22:20

Mamas and papas have got some travel system bundles with the cybex cloud z for around 1k

GettingItOutThere · 05/07/2021 22:46

i would not use the likes of joie spin or cybex spin ones for a newborn. Too big and do not provide enough support head wise

The cybex z? i think, orange thing, lies flat and was way up on safety ratings

sarah13xx · 05/07/2021 23:26

I’ve got the mamas and papas occaro with the cloud z car seat. You just buy the car seat base once, the seat rotates 360, can lie flat when on the pram or out the car and you buy the sirona seat when they outgrow it to go on the same base.

Bubbles1485 · 06/07/2021 12:45

We've gone for a maxi Cosi pebble 360 - the base is suitable for the next size up (the Pearl I think) so we just need to buy that when baby gets too big. It also seems to fit most prams with adaptors (double check as there are a few it won't work with). We will use it with the Nuna mixx stroller.

MrsMiddleMother · 06/07/2021 12:51

We're going for the maxi cosi pebble for baby 2! Looks amazing, I wanted something similar with baby1 but there wasn't one and I wanted to be able to carry the carseat when baby was little.

cindarellasbelly · 06/07/2021 13:11

Something to think about: if you're planning a second child then if you have a car seat that goes 0-4 you'll have to get a second car seat anyway, so you might as well get a 0-1 car seat that does exactly what you want, then one that goes extended rear facing. That might be obvious, or you might not be planning a second,, but worth considering as I only realised it quite late in the day.

Also, baby's centiles will have an effect. Our daughter is 98th centile grew out of first car seat before 1, and on track to grow out of current one by 4 even though it 'could' do her to 6. We got a 0-1 year isofix, it didn't go 360 but was very easy to take in and out. I can't remember why we didn't go with a 360 one in the end, possibly we prioritised it fitting in buggy. Its about to come down from the attic for no.2. At about 9 months we moved her into an axkid mini-kid which we're delighted with, and at this age she really doesn't need the 'spin' function, we prefer the longevity and safety ratings. We actually chose to get Joie ones for our parents cars. We figured it was easier for them to have their own in case they were picking her up directly. They also convert to high back boosters, so basically will do her till she's 7 or so. They never had her in their car till she was about 8 months though.

You want an infant carrier for newborn till ~12months

Then extended rear facing car seat.

I'd go maxi cosi pebble then axkid mini kid

SillyBry · 06/07/2021 13:40

If you stick one brand, you can usually use the same base for both seats.
We have a Maxi Cosi Pebble, which you then re-use the base for the Pearl. (They now do 360 versions).
Just think though, if you plan to have a second child quickly, you will be using the base for child 2, so it becomes less important?
The majority of pushchair brands are compatible with Maxi cosi and sell adaptors for the baby seat.
My daughter rear faced to 3.5 in the Pearl and is now in a high back booster.
Ease of getting the car seat out is less important once they are in the second seat as the seat tends to live in the car and just the child come out, rather than lifting them out in the seat.

Nat4392 · 06/07/2021 13:55

As others have said, the cybex cloud z is good for this. It’s 360* and removable and can clip on the pram but it’s only up to approx 18 months. You can then switch to the sirona but use the same base. I can definitely recommend it so far.

MyMabel · 06/07/2021 13:57

I have the cossatto all in all rotate which goes to 12 years and is 360. But it doesn’t have a handle for coming in and out of the car

Girlmama3 · 06/07/2021 15:30

We’re going for the maxi cosi coral 360. It’s got a removal baby seat bit so you don’t need to lug the whole baby seat around.

You can then use the 360 base on the next stage seat.

Tomfirsttimedad · 07/07/2021 22:49

Thanks all for the help , going for the maxi cosi coral 360 and compatible push chair.
