Odds of me getting induced?

Hi all. Currently 33+4 with my second baby.

Just been for a scan today referred by MAU, they are concerned because they've found that she's measuring at 6lbs ALREADY! And I still have 6 weeks to go!

They're also sending me for GD testing tomorrow.

What's your experiences with this? If she keeps growing at this rate do you think they'll just induce me? Or am I carrying this big chunk around with me to term? X

Sometimes they do but not always.

Our son measured 4 weeks ahead on growth from 28wk, they were going to let me go 2 weeks over before induction. I started dilating at 39+6 (1cm) and he eventually arrived at 40+5 after having waters broken weighing 10lb 12oz. Had an unassisted delivery, 14 mins pushing so not too bad. Our current is on the 97th centile and they do want to bring her early if she stays the same or gets higher up the charts but that's because I had an elcs with our breech twins last time so there's a risk of scar rupture to think of.

Growth scans can be very unreliable. Also, you can refuse induction.

I wouldn’t worry too much. At I had constant growth scans and at 36 weeks he measured small, caused all sorts of hysteria as he plotted below the 1st centile. Was due to be induced but I asked to give us 2 more weeks, we were monitored daily and then scanned again and he measured much bigger so they left us. I went to 41 weeks and he was 7.7lbs and they were expecting below 5lbs 😂

Remember that growth scans don't actually weigh a baby. You can't weigh a baby until it's born. They're an estimate and they can be significantly out.

If they're concerned they'll monitor you. Wait and see what that shows.

I had a growth scan at 36+6, the day before I was induced and they said baby was 4lbs 2oz, he was born at 37+1 weighing 7lbsBlush

Growth scans are notoriously inaccurate which is why they are only supposed to be used to trigger other possible checks not to make clinical decisions on themselves (e.g. possibly measuring large = GD test, possibly measuring small = cord function test). Unless there are underlying issues found necessitating further action, growing a bigger or smaller baby shouldn't be a concern in itself, your body generally won't grow a baby it can't birth (obvious exceptions if there's other reasons causing a larger or smaller baby).
