Me! I'm 29 weeks and have taken mirtazapine 15mg before and throughout. Baby is growing well so no concerns 😊

I did. I was warned I would have to spend a night in hospital for baby to be monitored after the birth. Ended up with ecs anyway so stayed even longer. But no issues at all with baby.

I'm currently taking them for non-depression-related reasons but trying to taper down by the end of the pregnancy... I don't want to be on them anyway. Have tried to come off them before and it didn't go well, so hoping I succeed this time.

Yes. I've been taking Venlafaxine for several years. I tried to reduce my dose during my first pregnancy, but gave up pretty quickly and carried on as normal. DD was born last year, and all fine. I'm now pregnant again and not even thinking about cutting back - pregnancy is really not the time to be trying that.

Hey,

I take mirtazapine 30mg, I've been on it for a while now, and am currently 15wks pregnant.
I was concerned over any possible side effects, or withdrawal the baby may get after birth, so I brought up my concerns to my midwife.
She referred me to a specialist department, where I had my appointment last week to talk things over.
They reassured me that everything is absolutely fine, there are no dangers to the baby with me continuing on my anti ds.
In terms of baby suffering from any withdrawal symptoms after birth, I was assured that there has been no evidence to suggest this is the case (with mirtazapine at least). If anything baby may be a little grizzly for the first 24hrs after birth, but there's no evidence to prove this is definitely linked to the mother taking anti depressants and not that the baby may have been a little grizzly anyway.
They recommend breastfeeding (if it was something I was planning to do anyway) as a form of comfort, and as tiny trace amounts of the mirtazapine will be present in my breast milk, it could act as a weening off process.

I was really worried about taking my medication while pregnant, but after my appointment with the specialist, it really put my mind at ease.

I had a medication review with my gp before I fell pregnant and she moved me from fluxetine to sertraline as its safer in pregnancy. I'm now 37 weeks and no major issues so far!

@deethra I take 15mg of mirtazapine and looking to conceive 2nd DC - can you tell me how your pregnancy was towards the end and how baby was after birth?
Thank you :-)

Hi @wineislife21Smile
I'm actually still pregnant, so I unfortunately may not be able to offer you much insight.
I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant, and so far this pregnancy hasn't been hugely different to my previous 2 (where I was not on Mirtazapine).

At this point in my pregnancy so far, I feel that for me personally, staying on mirtazapine was definitely the right choice.

@deethra thanks so much for replying!
I didn't actually consider the dates when I first posted but looking back of course you're still pregnant ☺️
That's great to know your pregnancy hasn't been any different to others and you felt it was the right decision to take them. I think I will do the same 👍
