Vaccine in pregnancy

Hi, I have just had a miscarriage. The first spotting started the next day after I had my first doze of Pfizer vaccine. I was 6 weeks at the time, and I had a vaccine as we had a sharp rise in delta cases in our neighbourhood. I have reported it as a potential adverse effect of the vaccine through the yellow card app. I know that there is no sufficient data to quantify risks for pregnant women or to connect vaccination to any complications. I guess I am just wondering if there have been other cases like mine - to help me cope with what happened. I realise that nobody would be able to tell me whether my vaccine and miscarriage were connected or whether they just happened to coincide. Thanks

Sorry to read this and sorry for your loss. Didnt wanna read and ignore. I've had 2 mc before this pregnancy and my midwife asked me till wait at least 2nd trimester before taking the vaccine. I read some people have taken it earlier with no issues but cos am still anxious and there have not been any data etc I'm 2 minded tbh. Thanks for sharing tho and take care of yourself x

I’m incredibly sorry for your loss. It is devastating. I think at such an early stage you can’t know either way and you’ll drive yourself mad trying to find the why. Take care of yourself.

I'm so sorry for your loss! I can't imagine how heartbreaking it must be for you. Sadly miscarriages are so common at this early stage, I think its 1 in 5 pregnancies. I agree that you'll drive yourself crazy trying to figure out a cause. Please take your time to heal and I hope you have some good support around you. Flowers

I’m really sorry for your loss.
I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks early 2020 well before covid.
After my miscarriage which was quite drawn out the midwife at the EPU said it is quite common in first pregnancies and she used the phrase ‘your virgin womb will know what to do next time’ which made me cringe at the time .
A year later and we are pregnant again.
I waited until the second trimester to get my Pfizer vaccine 18 weeks and 24 weeks.
I think they recommend waiting not because it is unsafe but if you suffer a miscarriage in first trimester (which is quite common) and happen to have the vaccine there will be no doubt.
I blamed my miscarriage on the coffee I was still drinking.
My daily cycling commute - which I’d been doing for 10 years
I blamed it on the Brie that I had eaten by the block over Xmas.
It took me months to come to terms with the fact that I did nothing wrong.
I’m really sorry that you are going through this and have the doubt of the vaccine hanging over you too but you did nothing wrong.
Wishing you the best for the future

Thank you everyone for your kind words and support. I realise you are all right when saying that first trimester miscarriages occur quite frequently. I guess it will just take time to process the loss and stop looking for reasons why it happened. Thank you again and have a good evening all

I'm so sorry for your loss.
I had the first dose of Pfizer at 17 weeks and started spotting the day after. It lasted for 5 days but fortunately baby survived and was ok.
I haven't bled or spotted one drop throughout the whole pregnancy aside from those 5 days after the vaccine and I'm pretty convinced it was linked.
I'm now 23,5.
I'm really hesitating to have the second dose - I've been delaying it.
I'm really sorry for you and think you did the right thing by reporting it.
