Hello all,

So first time mum here. Waters broke yesterday 1.5 hours after a stretch and sweep with no contractions. I've now been admitted to hospital and have been given an induction. My partner is not allowed to stay with me overnight so I'm in a room with one other person. It's all starting to feel a bit real and the thoughts of 'is this biological possible?' is starting to loom over me and I'm getting a bit nervous about it all. Also feeling a bit out of control as this is not the plan that I had for labour :(

Any messages of reassurance are very welcome!!

Xx

Ah how exciting! Congratulations!

My advice would be to go with the flow and trust your body. It knows exactly what to do and soon your going to meet your lovely new son/daughter! Listen to those midwives, do exactly as they say and talk to them about any worries you have. They are fab and there to guide you through the process. Xx

Oooh how exciting... Baby will be here soon!
Just go with the flow, it may not be the birth you had planned, but nor was mine. Just know that once baby is here all that will be forgotten. Try to relax get some rest if you can Smile

I had almost the exact same situation, waters broke, but Labour didn’t start so I was induced. Stayed the night before on my one and husband came back in the morning when I was actually put in the drip and the real business began. I went on a drip about 8 I think, and was sort of fine till about 11, then gas and air for an hour or two, then I got a bit scared and had some sort of morphine type painkiller (can’t remember the name) then the pushing dragged on for ages and he was eventually forcibly removed by ventouse and episiotomy by 7.30. Honestly, it was very intense, but absolutely wonderful too. I really really wouldn’t worry about it not being the plan, very few people’s plans work out and it really only matters that you and baby are healthy and that you feel okay. I think it’s best to try to just adapt as things go along. I did make sure that I ate before going on the drip though (no one seemed very bothered about that but I know that food is v important for me) and I also asked that I was monitored with the wireless sensors as this meant that I was able to walk around and be more active which sometimes you can’t with an induction if you’re hooked up to machines. They are a bit more temperamental though, so I think the hospital is less keen and it could be that it doesn’t matter to you anyway.
But I just wish you all the luck in the world for the next 24 hours, I hope you and baby have a smooth ride.
