Hey,
Just as the title says really, wondered if anybody had any experience with reflexology or acupuncture to help induce labour.
Starting to feel the strain and desperate to try anything to help baby along it's way ,
Thanks

Are you overdue?

MadgeMak · 01/07/2021 20:34

I went into labour in the evening after having reflexology that morning. I was 13 days overdue by then though.

boymum88 · 01/07/2021 21:25

It can't hurt, go relax enjoy a bit of u time and get the oxytocin following,
I did get Dh to give me foot rubs and googled the pressure points

RandomMess · 01/07/2021 21:41

Didn't work for me because I am clearly a 43+ weeker.

However I believe in it. It stimulates your womb.

StellaOlivetti · 01/07/2021 21:43

It worked for me!

yepitsmey · 01/07/2021 21:44

I had reflexology and went into labour 6 days later, so no, it didn't help. However, I went for my own relaxation and it was wonderful.

Nat4392 · 01/07/2021 21:46

Didn’t work for me. I had it at 39+1 so technically I wasn’t quite due so it’s less likely to work. I had it regularly throughout my pregnancy but apparently there are different techniques they can do to induce labour. Either way it was still a nice relaxation session!

@StellaOlivetti that's interesting, glad it worked for you, how many weeks were you at the time? Thanks

It worked for me, at 39 weeks. Felt first contraction during the treatment, then baby born 24 hours later. Even if it doesn't work, it's very relaxing.

letitgogogo · 01/07/2021 22:10

First pregnancy i had reflexology at 37 weeks, had my show that evening and labour a few days later (not intentional), I remember a certain part of my foot being touched and feeling nauseous.

Second pregnancy i had reflexology at 39 weeks twice and nothing, i tried hot curry, sex, pineapple juice and then had acupuncture two days before my due date and the day before my due date i went for a big walk, baby was born on my due date. I'm not sure if it was the walk, acupuncture or she was just ready

kitten789 · 01/07/2021 22:25

It worked for me. I had reflexology at 39+2 and went into labour that evening and had my DC early the following morning.

tobeornottobe1 · 01/07/2021 22:26

@Ifyourefeelingsinister , amazing, glad it worked for you. I'm really looking forward to trying it now.

@letitgogogo thank you for sharing, Smile

Seemed to work for me.
I had reflexology in the afternoon and the baby was born the next morning.

Florabritannica · 01/07/2021 23:37

I had it when I was ten days overdue and went into labour that night. I’d like to say shit off a shovel but actually it took 20 hours and an emergency Caesarean. I honestly don’t know whether the reflexology worked, but it’s certainly worth a try. It was quite uncomfortable though.

StellaOlivetti · 02/07/2021 06:27

@tobeornottobe1
I was 40 weeks and the hospital were threatening to induce, which I really didn’t want. Reflexology was a sort of last resort, I was pretty sceptical but willing to try anything! When she was working on the area of my feet that corresponds to the uterus, the baby woke up and was really active for a few minutes. I went home all relaxed and she was born naturally the following day. I’ll always be grateful to that reflexologist!

Thanks for posting this! I am 38 weeks today and seeing your post made me look into local reflexology sessions. Turns out I have somewhere just around the corner from me and I am also covered via my medical care at work for reflexology so I have just enquired about booking a session in for next week. Glad you found it relaxing! Smile

tobeornottobe1 · 22/07/2021 15:22

@sunshinecitrus1 , I would definitely recommend it! The lady I went to was excellent, she could tell my body wasn't quite ready to go into labour just yet and I
Guess she was right. It was nice and relaxing, best of luck and hope bubba arrives soon for you x
