Cooking for older child when dealing with morning sickness

It's horrible! Plus my son and husband are meat eaters and I'm a vegetarian for preference reasons.

Having to cook twice a day for someone else is torture!

Can your DH bulk cook some easy meals for you to just warm up for your child? So you aren't standing over the food cooking it.

Good idea. I have lots of meals frozen but the heating/helping him eat/tidy up etc are all making me feel dreadful too! Envy

How old is your older child?

I assume you're talking lunch and dinner here. For lunch, sandwiches are totally fine and don't smell, as is cereal or porridge when you're really feeling it. Baked beans and scrambled egg don't smell much, nor does peanut butter or jam on toast.

For the evening meal, can you hand this over to your partner for now, or at least the meals which are meatier/smellier? If he's home from work too late each evening, he could put each meal ready the evening before, so you are just putting it in the oven or heating it up. Otherwise, pasta and a jar of sauce with grated cheese is easy and doesn't smell much, scrambled egg on toast too. And it might be time to break out the fish fingers, chicken nuggets and oven chips.

Can you order a bunch of frozen meals from ‘Cook’ to help get you over the hump? It’s expensive but they do a 15% offer off for new/expecting parents. Or if DS is still really small the Ella pouches are a handy backup. Also now it’s warm weather don’t cook, just put packets of cold meat/cheese/salad out with some new potatoes and everyone can have what they fancy.

Thank you.

I think maybe it's just me but everything is setting me off. I just have to grin and bear it and breathe outside

I may have resorted to M&S ready meals for many months Blush

How old is your child? You say helping him eat so under 3?

Dh prepared a lunch for Ds1 (2 1/2) every morning as I was put on bed rest at 7 weeks pregnant with Ds2. He also made Ds's dinner when he came home too or worked from home when he could. There were lots of snack options that did not require any work from me.

I only cooked once a day and stuff I could quickly prep then leave in the oven while I was feeling sorry for myself on the sofa.
We have 5 kids already and they were being homeschooled during the roughest months, they were happy with cold breakfast and lunch. Chicken smell was the worst for my nausea and we eat a lot of it in our house. Hubby complained that I wasn't cooking his favourite chicken curries and fajitas when he was home but he only made that mistake once lol.

He's 3, so needs a little help here and there with things like beans on toast etc!
