Hey everyone. I am 15 weeks pregnant with my first child and thinking about all the stuff I am going to need. I am thinking a lot of about prams as I have no idea what one to get. I don't drive so would like something good but not a ridiculous amount of money. What do people recommend? Should you buy a second hand pram or is it not worth it? Any help would be great.
Thank you

Second hand is a good shout as they’re ludicrously expensive! Or consider ex-display. We have an iCandy Lime (would definitely recommend, I love it) and bought the ex-display model, saved us about £400 Shock

Main stuff to think about:

  • do you want a travel system (where you can clip in a car seat?) I’m guessing no if you don’t drive but you might want to consider it if baby will regularly be going in someone else’s car.
  • will you be using public transport a lot? If yes, bear that in mind - you’ll need a light buggy like a Zen Yo-yo if you’re using the tube a lot, and if you’re using buses a lot one that can fold one handed will be a godsend
  • conversely do you need something that can handle countryside/more rugged terrain? If so big wheels are a must
  • whatever you do make sure it’s something you can steer one handed!
  • are you planning on more kids while little one is still small? Having a buggy board option (so bigger child can stand and ride if they get tired) will be helpful
  • also you need to love the look, you’ll be pushing the damn thing for ages so don’t get one you don’t enjoy looking at!

I got the Silver Cross Scout from Smyth's.. such a bargain for the quality at £499. Nicest pram I have seen by far and I've seen lots. Steers beautifully doesn't seem too heavy and looks great.

Aldi have the ikkle bubba stomp in the reduced special buys online, it’s down to 169 for the full travel system! Bargain.

What kind of place do you live in? City or country? Will you want to go on the bus/train a lot? How much space do you have in your house to keep it set up or will you want to fold it up?
We went for the UppaBaby Cruz, secondhand off Facebook, as we live in a city and it's good for city streets. We liked the system and the transition from bassinet to seat was easy. (The Uppababy Vista is much bigger and we struggled to get it on public transport or round some of our small local shops)
However our family all lives outside London and we also like long walks on bumpy paths so we ended up getting an out and about nipper for country walks too.

This being my fourth baby I’ve had countless prams over the years. Apart from the first one I ever bought, they’ve all been second hand.

I quickly realised there is no need to spend the crazy shop prices.

This time around I’ve gone for a baby style Egg pram. In John Lewis, the full package that we have is selling for £1300!!! I got mine in immaculate condition, literally looks brand new, for £150 on Facebook market place.

In the past I’ve had an Icandy peach, various mamas and papas prams, bugaboo bee, bugaboo cameleon, oyster, cosatto, Quinny.

My favourite so far was the bugaboo bee. I love the look and feel of the Egg this time around too so will see how it goes.

But once you decide what you want I’d definitely recommend shopping around on Facebook selling sites and marketplace!

All the prams pretty much do the job, it's a bit like buying a laptop if you're just a regular internet user... Just get the one with the look and colour that makes you happy :)
If you can find a second hand one to fit your budget even better!

We are having our baby later in life so don't have to watch the budget quite so tightly and fell for the venicci pure cloud www.trendybaby.co.uk/venicci-pure-prestige-edition-3-in-1-travel-system-cloud?language=en&currency=GBP&gclid=CjwKCAjwz_WGBhA1EiwAUAxIcZU-4uKGPzOvO05ztReWoH3Tv0eoBPYuDbBZJZU0IBargdXbBBDd4hoCRmMQAvD_BwE
It's quite a recent model but even they are going cheap second hand already! So maybe it's a choice for you between getting something cheaper and new, or a bit more upmarket and second hand. Either way you'll be fine!

We’ve gone for an icandy peach all terrain, as we live near a lot of woods (all national trust with paths) but means we’ll be quite muddy on walks!

Brand new it was £1300 in John Lewis, but we got an ex display off eBay for £500 basically brand new anyway! Has the adapters for our car seat, easy to use/fold and converts to a double if we have a second closely after our first!
