I had spotting at 6 weeks and again at 10. Everything was okay, in the end, they put it down to being my cervix. It was a pretty horrible journey to that point, though.
@Anxiousnewbie I’m sorry about your experience
My EPU has stopped doing early scans, they’ll check if your cervix is open if it’s quiet but otherwise they say there’s no way to know, especially early on. HCG in blood takes days to come down, sometimes weeks, and scans aren’t too accurate unless the NHS has already scanned you - it’s difficult to know if there was a heartbeat yet, unless it’s already been seen. It can also be quite traumatic.
The wait is horrendous, I hated every minute. I felt like I was constantly checking if the bleeding had got heavy… if you’re filling more than a pad an hour, they advise you to go to A&E here; and the EPU staff will come to you.
In the meantime, I was told that resting and limiting movement would help if it was my cervix, but they were keen to say that whatever happens wouldn’t be my fault, whether or not I rested.
All the best to you both
