Currently 27weeks pregnant and my bras are starting to feel uncomfortable, I bought bra extenders that have been ok until now but now I think I need to get some more bras in bigger back and possibly cup size? I just don't want to spend too much on new bras to have to get some again in a few weeks? Any help/advice would be appreciated.
(Also is it still ok to wear wired bras? My boobs have always been large so feel more supported with the wired bras)

Hi I've just got these bras from Asda:

amp.direct.asda.com/george/women/maternity-clothes/nursing-bras/nursing-comfort-non-wired-padded-bras-2-pack/GEM738276,default,pd.html

I'm usually a size 36E & have ALWAYS worn underwired bras. I got these in a 38G as my boobs are now humongous. They're not wired but are so comfortable & supportive, can't recommend them enough! And only £15!

Hi thanks for your reply, I've just checked but they don't go up to my cup size 🙈

Not sure if they have your size in these but they’ve been the comfiest ones I could find! I’ve went up a back size as well as a cup size now so find they don’t dig in like my last ones did. I was ending up with red marks every day 🤦🏼‍♀️ www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0970033001.html

If you’re planning to breastfeed might be worth just getting a nursing bra from bravissimo (their over the phone sizing advice is brilliant) as your boobs will stay huge for the foreseeable 😘 Not such a biggie if you’re planning to formula feed from the outset but just thought I would mention. I found after the first few crazy weeks my boobs went back to my pregnant size while I was feeding.

I got some full cup bras from bravado that worked during pregnancy and breast feeding. They lasted a good while as they are quite stretchy so they cover different sizes. Still found them supportive even without a wire

At around this time I got some cheap nursing bras from asda. I was around at 32E-F and got the small which was fine once to took out the removable pads.
I am still wearing them now at 10 month postpartum. They are really comfy for sleeping in once baby arrives and they also cover the engorgement period between my milk coming in (week 1) and my supply settling down at around 3-4 weeks. When I added a couple of nicer nursing bras from Freya.
I wear the asda ones overnight and in slobbing days and the Freya ones when I want to feel more human!

Superscientist · 26/06/2021 16:49

I meant to add, I would happily wear both sets of bras when I have finished breastfeeding too.

OP, get yourself over to www.Molke.co.uk

I didn't find them until after I had the baby, and was so annoyed as I'd spend my entire pregnancy feeling uncomfortable and spent a fortune on maternity bras, none of which were quite right!

Can be tricky to get the sizing right but they are so comfy, and very supportive- I'm an F cup and they provide as much support as an underwire, if the fit is correct

You can also use afterwards for breastfeeding as they are crossover. Honestly I love them!

This has been my biggest issue during pregnancy and tbh in the end I just gave up and bought a larger size in my usual M&S style with underwire…. I just got so fed up of bras feeling okay but then having issues later on as loads of nursing bras cause me to rub in between my cleavage. You can get nursing bras with flexi wire though which I’m planning tk look into once baby is here, I think I saw them at hot milk and Ann summers.

Thank you all for your recommendations! ☺️

Hello. I switched to non-wired bras while pregnant, because I read that wired bras can increase the risk of blocked ducts/mastitis. I hope you can find a bra that is comfortable for you.

SillyBry · 26/06/2021 18:31

I never thought I’d be wearing non-wired bras, but as they grew, wires became so uncomfortable!
I wore maternity bras from M&S first time round. I found a lot of the high street nursing bras aren’t sturdy enough for E cups!
If you’re 27 weeks, it’s probably good to buy bras that have a bit more space for growing in your final trimester/when your milk comes in. But they will probably go back to the size they are now for most of your feeding journey. (Assuming you’re planning to breastfeed.)

I just treated myself to some “fancy” nursing bras from Cake maternity, including a lush sleep/pumping bra, which I think I’ll live in for the first few weeks!! But be warned, if you buy from their sale section, you can’t return or exchange them, which I think is very cheeky!!

Try primark, they have very cheap underwear. I get all my pregnancy underwear from here, because like you say you have to keep buying new. No point in over spending.

Go to Bravissimo and get fitted and they'll help you find some bras that fit properly. It won't end up cheap but it will definitely be worth it anyway. I had huge problems with discomfort from bras in my first pregnancy and finally had my third fitting of my pregnancy in Bravissimo for the first time in my 3rd trimester and it was pricey but oh my God so so worth it. I got a Royce maternity bra which you can pull the cups down easily on to breastfeed in afterwards and likewise a Cake maternity bra that you can do that with. I'm pregnant again and wearing both already despite only being in the second trimester and my Cake one I wore for the intervening years between pregnancies anyway because it's so comfy and so adjustable. I also have a couple of Emma Jane nursing bras which I bought online also in my third trimester last time and they're not amazing fit-wise but quite cheap and do the job. Finally I have a Molke which is great too but I'm not sure it will fit in the third trimester/breastfeeding because it's seeming a bit snug now already. I don't think I'd buy another one though because it's hard to get the sizing right, the first one I bought was too small in the band even though it was the recommended size for me from their size guide and they're expensive and it's a faff to be trying loads of different sizes and returning them etc.
