Which pram?

Hey guys,

I'm 33 weeks and still don't have a pram for DC. I'm driving myself mad looking at them because I just have no idea which pram to go for!

I'm looking for something that's lightweight (we currently live on a 3rd floor flat and were hoping to move before baby but it's looking unlikely), something that isn't too bulky as needs to fit in a smaller car (3 door toyota yaris), and our budget is around £500. Ideally wanting a travel system with carseat and carrycot but happy to consider buying those separately too. Oh and one hand fold would be handy too if possible.

Does anyone have any recommendations that fit that bill? I've literally spent hours scouring all websites I can think of and I'm just stumped! Red kite push me prams and the Ickle Bubba prams have come up a few times so I'm definitely considering one of those but open to others too.

Thanks guys!

Hi, if helpful I’ve just bought the Ickle Bubba Stomp v2 from Aldi - very good offer at the moment and much cheaper than RRP! Obviously haven’t tried it yet so can’t give my thoughts but just wanted to flag the offer in case of interest. I went for that one as I also want something lightweight and that can fit in the boot of our smallish car. I read a review on madeformums that said it’s compact when folded and fits well in the boot. The review said it’s a two hand fold though rather than one!

Those brands are a bit cheaper for a reason in my opinion (I work for an onlinenursery retailer!) they come with issues! Look at the new oyster zero gravity, it comes with a car seat & carrycot for £549. That fold on-it’s-own!!!! Or the Joie Verstrax comes in a bundle with carrycot & car seat for £490.

My advice is to get a cheap one, I ended up mostly using my £20 buggy as soon as old enough. With the car, consider whether permanently fixed (and spins) is easier than taking in and out.

I'd go for a sling only for the first 6 months then get something like the MAmas and Papas Armadillo City as its lay flat and can be folded so small it stows in the back foot well in a car.

Infant carseat attaching to a stroller is handy but really not essential - you can then leave the carseat in the car.

Getting a carrycot is a nice idea but think how often you would use it - it's not going to fit in your car that's for sure.

In your situation I'd get either a bugaboo bee or a babyzen yo-yo.

ricketybeauty · 24/06/2021 14:46

We’re in a flat with a small car as well and we bought the Numa Triv. One hand fold and fits fine in our Corsa. We did get the bundle which I was £775 from Natural Baby Shower

bunanarama · 24/06/2021 14:50

We love our babyzen yoyo!

Cybex Beezy. Lie flat so suitable from birth and has car seat adaptors. Fits in the back of our 3 door Mini Cooper. Cybex quality, £260.

I had the oyster max there is a newer model available now but it's really small as travel systems go still using it now for number two x

slippersandprosecco · 24/06/2021 15:05

You 100% need the babyzen yoyo. It's brilliant and so tiny (can fit in overheard luggage on a plane tiny). Ridiculously easy to fold up and down, and you can get a bassinet for the newborn stage for it.

We bought a bugaboo fox travel system as our main pram and the babyzen for plane journeys (which obviously didn't happen!) but have got so much more use out of the babyzen and wish we had just got that in the first place!

Also look second hand on Facebook marketplace - you can often get £1000 travel systems for under £200. You can then swap the car seat for a new one if you are worried.

Jurassiclover · 24/06/2021 18:05

Thank you so much guys! Will have a look at all your suggestions!

Good point about Facebook marketplace actually, will have a neb on there too!

Not my thread but just wanted to say thank you for recommending this pram, I've just ordered one as well! 😊

I have a baby jogger city tour lux. It ticks all of your boxes. You can use it with a carrycot, car seat and when in pushchair mode it world and parent faces. The only down side is the shopping basket isn't very big.

Heyha · 24/06/2021 20:16

People don't often mention Maxi Cosi for travel systems (just the car seats) but we have an Adorra and I really rate it, they would definitely have something suitable around your budget. You can buy direct from them, their customer service is good, and they have an outlet section on their website for end of line stuff.
The Adorra doesn't cope with the more rural aspects of my life but it's done everything else I've asked of it and it even fits in the back of our little runabout car as long as you don't want much else in there, it's fine in a normal car.

PepS123 · 25/06/2021 11:28

@JackJack84 Glad to be of help 😄

Chelyanne · 25/06/2021 12:51

We've got a zeta vooom, was £70 for pram, footmuff and bigger raincover. We have carry car seats from our twins in the loft but they were only £30 each new (half price at the time). We had the double version of the pram for the twins and it was fab, we were limited on boot space with our 7 seater and these fit in really well. Did lots of dog walks with it but we did go through 2 before they no longer needed a pram.
