Hi everyone! I'm 16+3 today and feeling very anxious as I haven't seen baby since 12 week scan and other than feeling tired all of my symptoms have gone!
I have an anterior placenta so I'm not expecting to feel movements for a while but it's such a weird feeling not feeling pregnant at all!? I'm also quite small so my bump isn't that big.
Anyone else going through the same? I have a midwife appointment tomorrow and I'm so nervous Confused
Should also add that I add a missed miscarriage in December so maybe that's why I can't accept that things may just be ok xx

I went through exactly the same! Felt in total limbo at that time because all my sickness had gone, I had no bump and also have an anterior placenta. I could have written your post! I actually ended up paying for a private scan at 17 weeks just to check she was still ok on there.

The midwife will use a Doppler to find the heartbeat so that should be nice and reassuring! I started to feel movement after about 20 weeks. It felt a bit like popcorn popping inside me. Still have a pretty small bump now at 24 weeks! But Anomaly scan showed she was on track growth wise.

Hang in there!! Daffodil

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and honestly would've have known I was pregnant until I was 22 weeks if I hadn't had IVF! I didn't feel sick at all, no sore boobs or anything. I didn't show or feel any movement until about 22 weeks! Hang in there. Would a private scan be an option to put your mind at ease?

Ameteurmum · 23/06/2021 20:59

I feel the same! 15 odd weeks here, can’t tell if I have a bump or it’s just a food baby 🙈 12 week scan was prefect but I had a MMC last year at 17 weeks so the gap between scans is a hideous grey area for me. Keeping calm and carrying on…mostly!

Babyno1x · 23/06/2021 21:07

Thanks everyone! That's made me feel better. I think because some people report feeling flutters at 15/16 weeks I keep waiting for it and the more I don't feel anything the more I'm thinking "I hope everything is still all ok in there!" But I had a great 12 week scan so I know I should just stop worrying.
I will feel better tomorrow when I hear the heartbeat and then will probably book a private scan at around 24 weeks just to keep myself reassured!
Xx

Baby #1 24 weeks
Baby #2 18 weeks
Baby #3 14 weeks

I felt same as you - but then was told I had anterior placenta so it all made sense. I didn’t feel much until 22 weeks, first baby posterior placenta and felt him around 16 weeks

ApplesandBananas21 · 23/06/2021 21:18

Hey,
I had an anterior placenta too.
I felt bubbles at 16 weeks and didn't get my first proper kick until 22 weeks. And even then they were few and far between until he was strong enough to feel past the placenta.
My bump didn't really start showing until 19 weeks.
Your MW will listen to the HB at your app so that will be lovely for you! I advise to record it on your phone!

Justanothercyster · 23/06/2021 21:29

I'm also anterior here, 20 weeks currently but started feeling the tiniest of movements at 18 weeks, no other symptoms! Don't worry, it will come, ask your MW to show you the heartbeat for reassurance x

grey12 · 23/06/2021 21:32

First child? It can be tricky identifying the movements before they become proper kicks.

Best way I can describe the smaller movements is "gas bubbles". If you feel something like bubbles travelling in your intestine, like when you have tummy troubles, but you're having them too often, it's baby!!!

8dpwoah · 23/06/2021 21:37

Not til nearly 20 weeks with DD (anterior placenta)
About 14 weeks with this one (posterior placenta)

The popcorn analogy is really good and then it seems overnight they turn into thumping great kicks!

Bumps appearing about the same sort of time as movement with both, my stomach muscles have given up basically despite physio....

I just wanted to say that not all trusts will try to do heartbeat at the 16 week appointment, I think most do now but would hate for someone to read this and then be disappointed if they are somewhere that doesn't do it at that appointment.

bookwitch13 · 23/06/2021 22:38

I wanted to reassure you and anyone else who may be looking at this with a posterior placenta (as everyone seems to think they should be feeling kicks etc a lot earlier!)

I have had no definite kicks yet, just a few twitch sensations here and there. I had my 20 week scan yesterday and the sonographer commented on his good movements :) it’s just a bit of a waiting game now! Anything from 16-24 weeks is completely normal x

sarah13xx · 23/06/2021 23:00

He did one massive kick sometime at the end of week 18 I think. Like so hard I got my partner to feel it on the outside. Up until then there were small fluttery movements but I was never 100% sure if they were definitely the baby. My symptoms completely disappeared after I stopped being sick at 12 weeks. I’m 33 weeks and don’t even really have any symptoms now apart from feeling the baby move obviously. Have never had a sore back or anything like that, nothing has hurt at all. I’ve been sooo lucky but I imagined it to be hard work by this point and it’s not 🙈

gemgem31 · 24/06/2021 07:07

This is the same as me I'm 18 weeks and haven't felt anything so I booked a private scan just for reassurance really and the baby is fine and was wiggling all over the place :) also found out we are having a girl I couldnt believe it because we was so sure it would be a boy lol

Rosieposy89 · 24/06/2021 07:44

Mine was 15-16 weeks but I have a posterior placenta so more likely to feel more movement. It's my first pregnancy

8dpwoah · 24/06/2021 09:21

I can't believe the difference it makes where your placenta is (I know second baby is a factor but still). I am 24 weeks and felt a pointy foot/elbow last night because my placenta is posterior and tucked out the way. With my anterior placenta last time I didn't get that til well past 30 weeks.

So remember if you've got an ANTERIOR placenta you've got a ruddy great big cushion (honestly ladies, if you've never seen one before you won't believe the size of it when you see it after it comes out!) in-between you and that little baby so they need to be in just the right place, or that bit bigger and stronger, for you to feel clear movements.
I seem to remember it's a case of don't worry about the first movements timing but once you've got them try to learn your baby's pattern of busy and quiet times.

Babyno1x · 24/06/2021 09:59

Thanks guys! I heard little beans heartbeat today at my scan and they picked it up really quickly so I feel a bit more reassured (until next week hahaha) Smile just so strange that something can be that big inside of you wriggling around and you can't feel it 😱

Fingers crossed the flutters come sooner rather than later!
