Eating crap!

I organised our engagement party at the weekend and have been absolutely exhausted since plus dealing with a few stressful things right now. I am almost 7 months pregnant and have been eating crap for the last couple of days, just loads of sugary foods. I'm going to try to detox tomorrow but I am freaking out that this is going to be harmful for the baby or that I'll give myself gestational diabetes. Baby is measuring in 50th percentile so bang average.

Don’t worry about it op. I ate crap all the way through & doing the same this time 😂. Your baby will be fine x

Oh I could have written this post

Today I’ve had 2 magnums (ice cream, not champagne or Prosecco, I wish!) and a 24 square bar of chocolate

I’m also just trying to cut back on it and have more self control where I can but I suspect it’s hormonal as I’m never normally like this!!

Going to try fruit to get the sugar hit (strawberries?!) and just stop buying the crap to see if that helps. I think it’s just one of those things and hopefully just a phase for both of us!

You’re 50th centile and you’ll soon see if that changes x

Don't stress about a couple of days!

It's been really hard for me this pregnancy, I've been totally turned of protein and vegetables and only wanting sweets, chocolate and carbs. The opposite of my normal routine!

Make sure you take your vitamins and get as much nutrition in as possible. But honestly a few days will not make an impact.

Thank you ladies made me feel much better. I am going to try to not have sugar tomorrow and just keep it simple as heartburn is now off the charts.

Tonight I tried to hoover up the remaining chocolate and cake that I have left over from the party. So fresh slate tomorrow.

I've always had a sweet tooth but pregnancy just sends me into a new orbit!

My wine habit has been replaced with chocolate throughout this pregnancy - usually I don't eat much chocolate at all!

This baby has also been bought up on a lot of McDonald's, magnums and Haribo!

I really wouldn't stress too much - since entering the third trimester I cannot get enough fruit (which has replaced some of the sweet cravings).

Also as an FYI - eating sugary food doesn't actually increase your risk of GD but if you were to get GD, then you'd have to manage your intake.

Yeah GD was what I was worried about.
Today I managed to detox from sugar a bit, had boiled egg on wholemeal toast for breakfast, homemade goats cheese & pepper tart with rocket salad for lunch, and steak, chips, roasted tomato, avocado and spinach for dinner.

Had a sneaky iced coffee too before my driving lesson.

Don't worry OP, I'm the same. Been eating awfully mostly due to morning sickness continuing on until late second trimester and food aversions. I just try to balance my sugar and carb overload with some goodness like yoghurt, fruit, oats etc. Dinner time is always a blow out though!

summerhillgang · 25/06/2021 15:04

Not done so well today. 5 Gavichon tablets and some cheese on toast lol

I've lived on crap this whole pregnancy Blush Literally soo much chocolate and sweet things, only thing that seems to taste normal. It's tough to eat healthy. Your baby will be fine.

Shortmamashortcycles · 25/06/2021 15:45

Yup as a GD mama last time, I want to reiterate you can't give yourself GD from eating sugar when pregnant.

I was so worried that my first trimester nausea (lived on carbs for 2 months) was the reason I got GD but getting it is just about your body's ability to up the production of insulin when pregnant, not about your diet while pregnant.

If you develop GD then yeah, bye bye carbs and sugar, but if your wee samples have been good, then don't worry - your pancreas is a lot better than mine and is picking up the slack!
