Baby movement

Hi everyone,

This may seem odd but I'm due my first child on the 5th August so in 6 and half weeks.

He is moving a lot to the point were a part of his body could be sticking out on me and it seems to be quite a lot the passed few days. Can anyone tells me if it's normal for him to be so active, it can also hurt sometimes when he moves to much, it's like tiny eggs sticking out of my stomach and then rolling around into a different position, I didn't want to ring my midwife if I'm just being silly as my midwife isn't very good and I don't particularly like here.

So is this normal or should I get in touch with my midwife?

Thank you Smile

Any change in movement, less or more should be reported to midwife or day unit. They can advise you best

Hi LauEli

Thank you but would you say having a lot of movement is a bad thing or good thing? X

Hey,
Any change in movement needs to be reported and checked.
Ring your MAU.
I was told any change, someone on a previous thread last week rang with increased movements and they weren't bothered.
Always better to be safe than sorry.

They want you to waste their time, think of how tragic it is when someone doesn’t ‘waste their time’ the outcome could be the worst possible. Call them, if you don’t like yours ring the labour ward.

More or less movement needs investigation, you know best.

ApplesandBananas21 · 21/06/2021 15:35

Also your not wasting anyone's time, it's their job to help you regardless Smile

Hey!

Thank you for messaging but can I ask what MAU is? X

Maternity assessment unit at your hospital

Dc2 was like this for me. I'm a teacher and he made a number of students sitting in the front row jump by lunging at them through my skin Grin

Maternity assessment unit at your hospital
Thank you!

I'm a very anxious person but I spoke to my midwife and she said from what I was telling her she isn't worried but if I still feel worried then to ring the pregnancy assessment unit.

She said they usually won't monitor you unless you feel the baby moving less, but moving more they don't usually do anything.

But she couldn't even remember which one I was and kept saying 30 weeks even tho I told her on the phone I'm 34 weeks on Thursday.

My husband says if my midwife isn't worried then I shouldn't be either.

It's normal for them to stick limbs and their bum etc out and roll around and all that, obviously that hurts as they get bigger. But if he's suddenly moving more than normal rather than a gradual increase in movement get thar checked.

TurdCrapley · 21/06/2021 19:32

Your midwife sounds crap if she can't even get your weeks right despite you telling her. Just ring the assessment unit to get double reassurance, there's no harm in it and it's better to be safe than sorry.

Thank you so much! I'm off to the hospital today for a baby monitoring check to see if he is okay xx

Thank you so much! Honestly I feel like I can't speak to my midwife and when I have an appointment she usually ends up on the phone for 10 minutes and then tells me we don't have time to go through everything after being on the phone! I've rang the hospital and have an appointment for 1:00 for a baby monitoring check up to make sure he is all okay! X

It's my first and when I spoke to my midwife about him she said 'does that feel and sound about right' and I'm like 'I don't know that's why I'm ringing you it's my first pregnancy I don't know what it should be like 💁🏼‍♀️'

Don't like being mean about the NHS or midwifes but mine really is awful! X

Pleased you have a scan, hope all goes well!
Some midwives sadly aren't very nice!

Thank you luckily everything was okay :) they did some baby monitoring for 20 minutes and everything seemed normal! But I'm glad I can stop worrying now! I have been told to relax and try not to stress between now and my due date x
