Do I complain to GPs about this?

I had my 16 week midwife apt last week and she told me my booking apt bloods from back in April showed me having an Iron score of 20 - apparently this should be 30+ and the Drs surgery should have been in contact with me about a prescription for iron supplements.

I'd not heard anything from drs so I called the surgery after my midwife appt to be told no one had even reviewed the bood test results they had been sent. So that's nearly 8 weeks and no one has looked let alone actioned a prescription?

It doesn't seem ideal - Im sure the effect if any is probably pretty minor but again Im assuming by iron levels are probably lower now than they were 8 weeks ago?

do I put in a complaint at the surgery about this or just push them to sort out a prescription - I went and bought some iron supplement liquid at the weekend but I'm not really sure what dose I should be taking or if there is a different one that would be better?

It may be worth asking them to review their procedures to make sure it doesn't happen again to someone else, or similar?

I wouldn't touch iron the doctor prescribes though. They'll get you the cheapest stuff, which will likely give you constipation! If you want pills, I believe iron bisglycinate is the best. Take with orange juice (or other vitamin C source) and don't eat/drink anything else for at least half an hour afterwards, especially not dairy.
There are other iron options which are even gentler on the guts, such as Spatone and Floradix, but these don't seem to be as good at raising iron levels (for me anyway). Try some different things and see what suits you :)
