Prolapse and 2nd birth

Evening all,
I developed a prolapse (rectocele) after my first birth which was/is horrendous. It's grade 2/3 and I made progress with pelvic floor exercises until I got pregnant again and I am really struggling at 27 weeks currently feeling like my insides are falling out. My first child is now 20 months so there will be almost 2 years between them.
Did anyone choose to have a C-section for their 2nd birth to stop further damage to their pelvic floor? I had forceps and an episiotomy and I am really keen to avoid further damage. However I know a c section is major surgery and not something to leap into.
Any advice would be fab! Thank you!

I've only had 1 DC but opted for an ELCS to avoid exactly this type of birth injury. I know everyone's experience is different but my CS was a great experience. Quick, painless, relaxed, 1 night in hospital, easy recovery (only took paracetamol and ibuprofen) and a year later my scar is almost unnoticeable.

If/when I have another baby it'll definitely be by CS. In your shoes, I wouldn't think twice.

I have had one VB and one elective CS. Elective c-section was an absolute breeze. Obviously not everyone has a good experience but don’t assume a c-section will be a hard painful recovery because it isn’t always!

If your priority is to avoid your prolapse getting worse then I would definitely have a section. It might be fine with a second VB, but a vaginal birth is a risk factor for pelvic floor damage and perfectly reasonable for you not to want to take that risk when there’s a safe alternative of a c-section.

I had a difficult vaginal birth with dd1 which left me with a prolapsed uterus. With dd2, 24 months later, I opted for an ELCS. It really was the right decision. It went v smoothly and my recovery was much quicker than from my vaginal birth.

I requested an elective c-section for exactly the same reasons but it was refused. Quite upsetting at the time but in the end I had a very straightforward labour with no intervention. Completely different from my first experience. Statistically your second labour is much less likely to require intervention however I completely understand your anxiety about it.

I've got a rectocele after my first birth 26 months ago.

Gave birth vaginally about 11 weeks ago. Totally different experience. Rectocele is no worse and may actually be every so slightly better as I don't necessarily have to 'splint' every time I go (know what I mean?).
