Hi, I've found out I'm pregnant very early on and I'm exhausted! I'm suffering extreme fatigue and I'm super emotional.
I work in a stressful busy kitchen and I'm the only female. Sometimes I work nightshifts alone having to move heavy equipment. My job is lots of lifting. Putting heavy deliveries away. Spending prolonged time in big freezers.
I've found it so stressful and have cried in work the last couple of days. I've not told my employer because I'm just 4w3d.
I was wondering if I spoke to my doctor if it's cause to be signed off for a week or two to get rest and de-stress.
I'm 38 high risk. My last pregnancy was a miscarriage at 10w. My son was born at 32weeks. So I'm high risk x 3. I'm so worried the stress and work will bring on a miscarriage...I don't want to tell my employer because I have family that work in the company and I don't trust my manager to not say something.
Can anyone relate or give me any advise? X

I wouldn’t imagine they would give you a sick note, the same stresses will return when you return to work.

You need to inform your manager to be able to conduct a risk assessment so they can make adaptions if you’re not coping

The stress will be less when I return because I've booked in for a private scan at 7w2d to reassure me and I will tell my employer then.
That way my shifts can maybe be adapted and the men that are being horrible and making me cry will actually back off me a bit.
I just don't want to tell anyone as I'm not even 5 weeks yet but people are wondering why I'm screaming then crying then fine...I'm a rollercoaster of emotions at the moment. And I keep making silly mistakes because I feel rotten and I've a lot on my mind.

When I was signed off for something pregnancy related, the doctor specifically put pregnancy related. I could be wrong here, but you really need this to be on your sick note so you are protected as it can't count towards usual sick leave and held against you.
Whether or not you'd get a sick note, I guess it depends on the doctor you see. Agree with pp regarding risk assessment. Congrats on your pregnancy!
