I'm 39+2 and thinking of doing some batch cooking to pass the time, and fill the freezer for after baby arrives.

What are your go-to recipes? I've got several different pasta sauces made already but looking for inspiration beyond 'things made of mince' Grin

Nothing. Probably a bit crazy but I will still cook everything once baby is here like I always have. I will stick with dishes I can spend a short time on prep wise then can allow to simmer away or bake in the oven. Hubby is hopeless in the kitchen as he is military and has all his meals made for him there and at home, he's good at ordering a take away though lol. Chicken curry and chilli are favourites in our house, I often do extra and freeze for hubby to take to work.

I'm only 8 weeks pregnant with baby number 3 but you've made me excited with this post!! Baby number 2 came at the very start of the pandemic so it was mot possible to get in the shops for me, and my husband couldn't get any meat at all... So I did no prep last time and was lucky enough to get a packet of Nappies before the baby came.

Now I've put my tiny violin away....

I love to make individual pies like steak, chicken and mushroom that sort of thing...

Curries

Chocolate Brownies, induvidually wrapped pieces. Take one upstairs each evening and eat it in the middle of the night when feeding the baby!

Little fluffy American pancakes. Reheat so well in the microwave or oven for a luxury breakfast.

Bacon and cheese muffins.

Sweet or savoury scones.

Cornish pasties

Chopped onions. Saves time when you actually cook.

Pesto.

Stroganoff.

Pulled pork.

Cook a gammon in orange juice and shred it. Store in about one handful portions in freezer. Great for toasties, omlettes, jacket potatoes.

Roast a load of potatoes and then freeze, just microwave for a jacket potato with all the roasted flavour, or slice to make hash etc.

Looking forward to seeing other people's ideas. Hope the prep goes well!!

Still a few month of actually doing that but I already have a plan! As I’ve only have a relatively small freezer I’m planning on batch cooking our favourite 45min+ meals for when we fancy something more complex than a 20min meal.

  • 2 types of lasagna. 1 beef, 1 squash, fennel and goats cheese
  • chilli (very versatile as can have it with rice/nachos/baked potato)
  • three veg curries (Indian and Thai)
  • 2 types of stew. 1 chicken and 1 lamb

Also will see if I can fit in a few snacks like scones and flap jacks

Im 3 days overdue and I’ve just done a big batch of chilli and also some portions of lasagne but because it’s summer (if the sun returns!) I’m planning on hubby doing bbqs so haven’t gone overboard lol we mainly eat chicken dishes too which is pretty quick and easy to cook anyway

Some lentil daal is easy and really nutritious 🙂 when I was pregnant, I made a few bags of curry, general Italian mince sauce for spaghetti or lasagne, enchilada filling, chilli...also made some breastfeeding cookies that probably didn't do much but were bloody delicious. Nothing beats fresh gooey warm cookies!
