While pregnant?
I'm so unsure. Would like to know if anyone else has chosen not to go ahead?

Re the news from Brazil, I read the whole article and the Sky headline is a bit misleading. It’s not that the Brazil variant in itself is more dangerous to pregnant women, it’s more that maternity care in Brazil is very poor so those who do contract it and get very ill have less chance of survival because of this….if that makes sense. That said Covid does increase risk of still birth here, but only from a very small percentage in the first place.

@Namenic

Thank you for the most sensible/reasonable post on this thread.

To the others attacking women and calling them idiots/stupid, you're not going to convince anyone. This is a HUGE decision for mothers to make, when the medical details are very much cloudy and majority of health care professionals just give you a leaflet with vague statements on it and say 'it's up to you'.

Currently there are no KNOWN side effects. They have admitted they don't have enough data to say it's definitely safe. From the medical report this week:

'Given that there was a relatively small number of completed pregnancies and that live births were typically after vaccination in the third trimester, Shimabukuro et al. acknowledge the limitations in their ability to draw conclusions about congenital anomalies and other potential rare neonatal outcomes. '

Not having it, not changing my mind with the pressure the vaccinated keep applying. I don't question their choice and they shouldn't question mine.

lockdownbabyx · 19/06/2021 10:52

@Chelyanne I'm the same as you. I'm personally not having it. I don't feel the need to justify myself when people on here say women that don't have it are "crazy". It's a personal decision for everyone, like most people I have also done my own research and still continue to do so most days. My decision is not to have it and my midwife and GP are very supportive of that decision and haven't tried to push me either way. So OP that is my only advice. Do your own research from reputable sources and make up your own mind, no one should tell you to have it / not to have it.

MM1993 · 19/06/2021 11:19

@Chelyanne @lockdownbabyx - agreed!!!!

baldafrique · 19/06/2021 11:24

Had first dose in Jan a week before I found out I was pregnant. Will have second dose in Oct after baby arrives.

Dalgleish · 19/06/2021 11:30

@Ednadidit Point taken but please know I wasn't calling anyone names, though it might appear that way. It's just a manner of expression meaning I don't understand the logic at all of not taking the vaccine. But I accept that for those who don't know me, it may have seemed otherwise.

PlanetTeaTime · 19/06/2021 11:36

After lots of deliberation I had it the other day even though I'm breastfeeding, but personally I definitely wouldn't if I was pregnant. But other people have other requirements. I don't judge people that don't want it.

Exactly. Need to laugh when people get on their high horse and are adamant the study is all knowing. I would never judge a woman who has had it or who is planning on having it while pregnant. It's her decision. No one should feel pressured into taking a vaccine when they don't know if it has adverse effects on their unborn baby. If you take the vaccine, you're guaranteed to be taking on any possible side effects. However, you're not guaranteed to catch covid. Any decision an expectant mother is making in relation to this, is with the babies best interest at heart. I'm sure all pregnant women will be happy to keep themselves safe during their pregnancy.
sarah13xx · 19/06/2021 11:38

I’m 32 weeks and have only just been offered it now. Working from home and being so so careful so I’ve decided not to have it until baby is here

lolateddy · 19/06/2021 16:25

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that is deciding they might not go ahead until after. I also live in a small area where the cases are low so I think I have made my decision for now but like another post said, I will most likely keep assessing the situation.

LauEli · 19/06/2021 21:04

I know of two people who have had terrible outcomes a week after the vaccine.
I am 25 weeks and had my first vac in December when it was first implemented. I got pregnant in January and decided not to get the second. I am still without my second dose and that is how I will remain until my child is born safely.
I finish work at 30 weeks and will only be socialising with fully vaccinated people from then on.

Trinacham · 19/06/2021 21:32

I'm 7 weeks pregnant and not sure what I will do but not rushing into having it. I'll definitely not be having it in the first trimester.

riromay · 19/06/2021 22:02

In some Nordic countries you can't get the vaccine if breastfeeding or pregnant.. I am not getting it now, no.

3ormoredogs · 19/06/2021 22:07

@LauEli what do you mean terrible outcomes?

I don’t think there’s been any reports of miscarriage post vaccine.

LauEli · 19/06/2021 22:40

@3ormoredogs terrible outcomes is pretty self explanatory without going Into detail. And just because you haven't read anything reported doesn't mean it's not happening.
I'm not a anti vaxxer I will glady have/ restart the vaccine process but only once my baby is here

3ormoredogs · 19/06/2021 22:45

@LauEli thanks for your reply.

I’m currently deciding whether to have it or not, it’s just if nobody shares the details of the other side what can happen then how do we know about the risks Sad
I’ve heard a few people say about ‘bad’ side effects but I wish they would publish details of how far along these women were (not your friends, just in general!) and the specific details of what happened so we can make an informed decision about what to do.

LauEli · 19/06/2021 22:49

@3ormoredogs one was 18 weeks, though she wasn't aware she was pregnant so there were other factors involved, such as the fact that she continued to drink and live a normal life. The other was 30 weeks and very much knew she was pregnant

Cindy974 · 19/06/2021 22:49

[quote 3ormoredogs]@LauEli what do you mean terrible outcomes?

If you look on the yellow card scheme there looks to be 200 cases of miscarriage post vaccination.

georgarina · 20/06/2021 04:21

I won't have it in pregnancy simply because there's no evidence it's safe/has no longterm effects. I don't judge people for getting it but I was invited to be part of a pregnancy vaccine trial at my hospital where they monitor your baby for a year after birth - I don't want to take something where that's not already known.

After all we used to think radium and thalidomide were safe.

I also have a family member who worked on one of the vaccines and advised me to avoid based on the fact that there's still so much we don't know about it.

I've got 8 weeks to go and I wfh so would rather wait it out.

sarah13xx · 20/06/2021 08:09

@LauEli oh no 😢 The fully vaccinated people thing seemed to be the answer at the start but the cases near me have got really high again and a nurse I know plus her whole family (who were all double vaccinated) have all caught it and one of them is in hospital with it 😕 so starting to wonder how much difference it really makes when they’ve all managed to pass it to each other

sarah13xx · 20/06/2021 08:11

There’s a girl on another post on here who’s the same as me (32 weeks) and her waters broke last week about a day or two after having the vaccine 😕 could be a coincidence but seems a bit strange
