Would love to hear people's birth stories for second children, was it much different to the first? Did you go over with your second if you did with your first? Were you induced both times? Getting more intrigued what to expect the quicker my due date approaches!!

Hey Op, my second birth went like this;
Fell over at 38 weeks - waters went 30 mins later. (Midwife said my fa didn’t have anything to do with it)
I went in to be monitored, and they decided to induce me, so I was put on a drip not sure how long, then they turned it up and within 10 minutes I felt the urge to push, he was out like lightening, very straight forward and quick delivery and drove home that same day ( although I wouldn’t advise this 🤦🏼‍♀️😂) xx
To be honest with any birth, 1st, 2nd or 7th they are all different in their own way xx

My 2nd was later than my 1st. 1st born at 38weeks. 2nd born on his due date. Slightly under 5 hour Labour with my 1st. 8 hour Labour with my 2nd. 2nd was a home birth so much more calm and relaxed. Once my waters broke 2 pushes and he was out. With my 1st my waters breaking woke me up and then I went to hospital and once I was there about an hour I started pushing. About 2 hours later he was born. So yes both very different. I think the pushing stage is always supposed to be quicker with 2nd and subsequent babies.

My first I started at 41 weeks, long slow labour, augmented with the drip finally hauled out via cs at 42 weeks
2nd booked a cs. Started in slow labour at 38+3 was convinced I would still make it to my cs at 39 weeks. When I should have been having my pre op two days before my cs date I was busy pushing.

My second was much, MUCH quicker. If I was to have a third one, I'd be very wary and would wanna make sure I get to the hospital early..!

I was going to be induced but I had mix feelings about it so I decided to go for a sweep first, at 39 weeks and hoped that it'd would get things moving.

Less than 24 hours later my waters broke at home. I was getting mild contractions and was very chilled about the whole thing. After a couple of hours I got into hospital - by myself, as DP had to take DS to his gran first - and we thought we had long time to go..

In the hospital, i got into a delivery room within 30 mins or so, contractions getting stronger but totally manageable. I rang DP and told him to eat and perhaps get some rest as I expected this was going to be a long night...

Sat on a bouncy ball, listened to best of Motown, I really was bouncing a lot as the consultant told me they they might wanna induce me still, if I don't get properly dilated within a couple of hours.

Fast forward another half an hour and I was panicking and feeling the urge to push, ordered the midwife to call DP as I could barely talk. I was fully dilated and indeed, I was about to give birth to my baby boy. The pushing stage only lasted 10 mins and surprise, surprise my DP didn't make it in time..!

Very happy my DS came out well and with perfect APGAR scores, despite being tiny (as I was aware he would be). The midwives were fantastic and very supportive so despite not having DP with me, it was a relatively calm and controlled birth.

Sorry about the length of my post, really hope all goes well for you, OP! xx

My first was 24 hours of early labour at home, but 3 hours of active labour in the hospital and ten minutes of pushing.

Second was 2 hours from first contraction to baby born, with 26 minutes of pushing. The contractions just started off with a bang and I knew immediately this was it. No comparison between the two!

Our 1st was a full induction due to high bp. Took 3 days, fetal distress epidural and vontouse delivery, average 7lb 7oz.
2nd was a lazy bum. Was examined at 39+6 and 1cm dilated, contractions were on and off and had been for a couple of weeks. Went to hospital at 40+4 only 5cm, had polyhydramnios so they refused to break waters as worried about cord prolapse. Kept on ward overnight and constant contractions, next day still 5cm. Finally agreed to break my waters, he had meconium in them. Hooked up to monitors, 2hr 5mins later was time to push. I was rushed from a small room to a bigger one as his shoulders were a bit wedged, loads of people in the room. 14mins of pushing he flew out and the midwife had to catch him while getting soaked in the waters. He was a chunky 10lb 12oz. 3rd was a breeze after him and our twins were elcs.

I had my first baby in July 2017. I was 10 days overdue with him. Labour started on its own and I was in labour for 6hrs 30mins. I had my second baby in August 2019. I was 9 days overdue with her. Labour started on its own again and I was in labour for 1hr 30mins. And I've had my third baby now just over a month ago (14th May). I was 13 days overdue with him. This time I was induced in the afternoon with a pessary at 1.40pm and baby was born at 11.57pm the same day. Labour was 1hr 27mins.

My second was a lot quicker then my first! My first was 15 hours my second was 5 hours I was rushed to have a c section with my second but I really didn't want one and pushed to her in the prep room 🙈! I found I recovered quicker with my second tho and was home 6 hours after giving birth which was great! I found it easier as I knew what to expect abit more snd I was only 18 when I had my first so it was pretty scary! They were both 9 days late my waters didn't break with either just had contractions that was my only Labour symptom x

I had my second baby in January. Much different experience to my first 2 years ago. First one I went 2 weeks overdue, induced with balloon which was taken out the next morning and my waters popped as it was removed. Went home, contractions started straight away, went back to hospital 6 hours later, labour was long and slow. Had the drip, finally got to 10cm was pushing for a few hours then finally taken to theatre for forceps with worked quickly.
Second baby, my hind waters broke by themselves when I was 10 days overdue. Broke at 10pm, contractions started right away, thick and fast. Laboured at home until 2am it was too painful, went to hospital where she broke the remaining waters. This labour hurt WAYYYYY more. Baby was back to back and contractions were in the tops of my legs, it hurt so much more than my first, despite having the drip first time. I had to have epidural as I couldn't take the pain (only gas and air first time until theatre) the epidural seemed to take ages and the pain in my legs didn't fully go, but by the time I actually felt numb the midwife checked me and I was 10cm! I wish I had the epidural earlier. On the next contraction baby was born at 6am. Good luck!! I'm sure your second birth will be faster
