Hi ladies,

A question to those who have already had a c-section... what was your second like? Has anyone had 3x c-sections?
My emergency c-section was rough and months of recovery. I just want thoughts from women who have had multiple sections?
Was recovery longer with the second?

Cat xx

I’ve had 3 c sections. 1st was emergency, the second 2 were elective.

All we’re actually really great experiences. But my electives especially were lovely. Very calm, recovery from all was fantastic. After my third I was out of hospital in just under 24hours, walking around fine, and with minimal pain.

I’m currently 26 weeks pregnant and will be having my fourth c section.

@Moominmiss
Thank you so much for your reassuring message.
My baby is 4 months, and I'd love to start trying again in 18 months. But because my scar took a turn for the worse, my mind then went crazy on the long term damage (even thought they said there isn't any).
Do you have any bladder issues as you've had multiple sections? X

@cat709 no worries!

I fell pregnant when my first was 9 months so there was 18 months between my first and second section, then another 18 months between my second and third section.

This time around there will be a 7 year gap between the third and fourth section.

I’ve never suffered any issues with my scar or bladder issues. Everything returned to normal pretty much as soon as my catheter was removed every time, and I’ve suffered no long term effects.

In fact the only reminders of any of my sections are the scar itself, and the fact the lower part of my tummy, around the scar is numb.

Ah okay, you sound like you've had great ops :) fingers crossed for the next one.

If anyone else has had a not so great c-section and has gone on to have another one..? X

Recovery with the second was a breeze! When the midwife visited, she assumed I’d had a vagina delivery because I was walking upright, off all painkillers within a few days, driving at 2 weeks. First one was horrendous. Walking holding onto walls, in a lot of pain, took so long to recover.

I'm going to be honest in that recovery from the second was harder - primarily because I had a toddler to pay attention to. Don't let this worry you, and just take from my experience that you really must refrain from picking other children up too soon, and make sure you have some help if that's possible.

Thank you all xx

My recovery from My second c section (with twins!) was much better than my first - maybe because I had to be up and out of bed straight away as babies were in NICU so moved around a lot more than I did with first - I was driving within 2 weeks

I had an elective with my second following an absolute shitshow of a birth with DC1 which led to an EMCS. I opted for an elective as I just didn't trust that I would receive appropriate care on the labour ward. For both births as soon as I was in theatre everyone was so calm, reassuring and competent.

My elective section was lovely though, really organised and due to being in a newer hospital I was lucky to have a private room which really helped with recovery. I was on a notoriously shit maternity ward with DC1 and it was a nightmare of stress and complications which only increased my time there (a whole bloody week).

Expecting DC3 and will be having an elective this time round. All three pregnancies have been high risk for various reasons and knowing that it will all be in hand with an elective really helps. Obviously it is major surgery as you know and I'm not minimising any risks but for me and my peace of mind it is worth it.
