Pelvic pain getting me down

Hi all,

Since about 16 weeks I’ve struggled with achey pelvis and hips however now at nearly 29 weeks and the pain is almost getting unbearable.
Everything from my thighs to my back is so stiff and the pressure on my pelvis is making everything so difficult.
Appointment with the midwife today to get her thoughts but just curious to see what anyone else did to help ease it.
On a positive note, baby girl is so so active which gets me through it- I just can’t wait

Did you see a physio, osteopath, or masseuse? Support belt, yoga, pilates, swimming, pillows for support at night, etc?

Ask her if it could be SPD. That’s when your body produces too much relaxin (which loosens joints to allow us to give birth) and your pelvic girdle gets a bit misaligned with your skeleton. (Totally rubbish non-medical explanation, I know). It can hurt like a bastard, I had it in all my pregnancies.

She can provide you with support belts or bandages, and if necessary some crutches, as wears some tips for moving/turning etc to reduce discomfort.

This will be the first appointment since it’s got this bad- I just grinned and bared it before.
Looking into belts as we speak

I'm currently 36 weeks with my second and have had this since I was about 24 weeks, its so horrible isn't it!
I have a yoga ball which helps to sit and gently bounce on and a support band for longer walks and being active. At night I literally can't close my legs anymore so I use a breastfeeding C pillow in-between my legs and it works. I also can't put knickers or trousers on without sitting down now, if I stand n one leg I fall!
I asked my midwife about an osteopath and she was a bit dubious saying there's only a few that specialise in PGP and it would be better just to push through.
Hope it eases off for you!!

You didn't have to wait for a midwife appointment, you can book in yourself with any of those people whenever you like if you are in pain, stiff, etc. Grinning and bearing it just lets it get worse before intervention, why do that to yourself.

A midwife telling you to push through with PGP is a complete idiot.

For me PGP started at 19 weeks and at 26 weeks the pain literally brings tears to my eyes. I didn’t have it at all with my first. Please go and see an osteo or physio; it does make a difference and they can give you guidance and advice.
