4th episode of reduced movement...

Just looking for other people's experiences really... I had 3 lots of reduced movements all quite close together when I was 29/30 weeks - due to that I had a scan that showed baby was on 10th centile and had twice weekly ctg monitoring for 10 days or so. I was signed off from the ctg monitoring as movement really improved and I was feeling a lot more confident with how much I could feel. I've had 2 growth scans since then and baby is growing well, she's jumped up to 25th centile and blood flow and waters all good.
I've had to go to triage again this evening due to reduced movements today - I'm 33+6. Ctg was all good and the doctor has decided to do twice weekly ctg, a weekly scan to check blood flow and fluid and continue with the fortnightly growth scans.

Just wondered if anyone else has had this many episodes of reduced movements? Did you have to be induced in the end? Not sure what to expect! Thank you!

I don’t even want to go and count how many episodes I’ve had but I’d guess around 8. Each episode after 28 weeks triggered a growth scan. I’m 40+3 and being induced tomorrow (well today, I guess! Can’t sleep) due to another episode yesterday. Everything with baby looked fine but as she’s now fully cooked, they recommend induction on the premise that she’s better out than in. I weighed up the benefits and risks of having the induction as it was something I was quite keen to avoid, but now I just want her here safely. I think I was told in my trust that if you have reduced movements after 39 weeks, they will offer induction. It doesn’t mean you have to take it, but worth bearing in mind. Lots of luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

Yes i had 9 episodes of reduce movements and baby was fine all the time but at 37 weeks my baby stop growing may be due to gestational diabetes which i developed at 33weeks. I was induced at 38 weeks due to growth restriction and multiple reduced movements. I am sure your baby is fine but it's always wise to go and checked it out. Hope you give birth to healthy baby. I remember when i used to go for baby movements how stressful and dreadful it was for me. My baby is now 5weeks old and i m still recovering but he is in my arms ❤️

Sorry to hear you’ve had multiple episodes, it sounds really worrying I can understand why you feel like this. It’s good that the doctors are continuing to monitor you, and fingers crossed there will be no need for interventions. Sorry I can’t offer any advice on this, and I hope you don’t mind me asking on your post - but what do you class as reduced movements?
It might sound silly but I am in my 30th week and usually have about 3 days of baby being quiet before a few days of lots of wriggling around. My consultant said last week that it’s normal, and midwife said as long as I feel something once a day then no need to worry. The days when baby moves lots are reassuring, I just don’t really know if at what point I should start to be concerned?
When I say ‘quiet days’ I do feel a few very slight movements just no kicks / big movements.

@swiftt good luck with your induction today! I've got a while yet so hopefully she can stay in for a bit - she's kicking away today anyway!

@Coxobaby glad everything was good with your baby 😊 my growth scans are showing good growth so hopefully that continues and they can leave her in there

@Oakie0 my trust are really hot on reduced movements so they say anything that isn't normal but they say baby hasn't set their pattern until 32 weeks. So for me the past 3 weeks I've had constant movement and kicks, but yesterday I only had tiny movements, almost like flutters and only 1 kick so that's enough for them to be concerned xx

Some babies never develop pattern. I was told by my consultant they take reduced movements vrry seriously but if there is no concern they are not going to induce before 38 weeks. One should always go for ctg for reduce movements but i was told by my gynaecologist cousin how can you expect from a unborn baby to have a pattern.

Thanks for replying @Baker0104 - and glad to see that you’ve had more movement today! I hope the rest of the monitoring all shows reassuring results.
