Anyone know of an mpg type app for pregnancy? To make sure I’m eating the correct portions?

Hello,

Firstly congratulations to all of you who are pregnant.

I got my bfp Tuesday and this is my first child. I’m struggling to keep track of what I should be eating and should not. What foods contain what nutrients.

For example, how much caffeine is in a chocolate bar. (Which is never written on the wrapper.)

It would really help me if I could scan a bar code, I put everything I consume into the app and macros show me if I’m approaching my limits, if I need more of a particular thing or if it is not safe to eat in pregnancy.

Does anyone know of an app that does this? I’ve searched and can’t find any.

I’m using Ovia pregnancy, but it is too basic.

Thank you to anyone/everyone who has any suggestions.

Hey @JLL1990
Congrats on your pregnancy!
I'm afraid I can't help with an app but what I'd say is you really don't need to worry about the macros to that level.
The NHS website has good guidelines - www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/keeping-well/foods-to-avoid/ - and in terms of caffeine for example, it shows how much is generally in products.

My other point would be to read Expecting Better by Emily sister which will give you a very good insight as to why they say you can or can't eat certain things - and whether you need to stick to it 100% or not.

If you make sure that you're eating healthily - plenty of all the food groups - as clean as you can, and don't overdo it on the rare meat, tuna/mercury heavy fish or things like that, you'll be absolutely fine.

Hope your pregnancy goes really well!

Emily Oster, not sister! Ugh, autocorrect.

Hi @MKCH

Thank you so much, that’s actually made me chill out a bit!

I’ll definitely be picking up a copy of Expecting Better by Emily Oster 😊 sounds like a great start! I just feel a bit lost right now hehe.

Try not to overthink it!

Follow the NHS guidelines as a PP said, and you can't go far wrong 👍🏻 eat plenty of fruit and veg, take your Vitamin D and folic acid and enjoy your pregnancy.

Thank you @ELCSPlease 🙂 I think I have been overthinking everything. I think I’m just overwhelmed by all the information. I’ll definitely chill and enjoy it hehe. x
