Hi girliesss, so after two consecutive miscarriages I've been advised to take 150mg aspirin daily [in hopes that this baby makes it all the way]

Any success stories?

@IloveGod2

Hi everyone. Congrats to you all. Can I ask what brand of aspirin people are taking. Maybe if you can post pic please. Not sure which to buy as some say disperin and anti something. Confused. Thank you in advance
I buy these, usually get them from Tesco or home bargains. I take 2 after my dinner in the evening x

Mine are exactly the same as @lockdownbabyx but come in a white box and I get them from my local chemist

I did find them in the chemist but they were double the price. 99p in home bargains 👍🏼 x

Ooh I love a good bargain! Haha. Thanks, I'll have a look next time I go!

Mine are also the same ones as @lockdownbabyx!

@haidri pregnancy makes the blood more ‘sticky’ which can cause clots. Some people are already predisposed to sticky blood but outside of clotting disorders - in pregnancy this predisposition might be enough to cause a minuscule clot in the womb lining or placenta, tiny but enough to cause a miscarriage - aspirin stops the platelets in your blood clumping and sticking together which is why it’s thought to help in some cases.

I did turn out to have a clotting disorder so needed heparin as well as aspirin and these did work for me. Best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy x

Also I take any aspirin, doesn’t have to be baby aspirin. My consultant told me to just got 300mg and break it in half or quarter depending on my current dosage.

Thanks ladies Smile

Thank you @Littlegoth this actually made sense to me! :)

Hi everyone, sorry for jumping on the thread. I posted a similar question on baby aspirin a few days ago and was pointed towards this helpful thread. All the suggestions are super helpful, as I similarly have a clotting issue (APS, shown up 7 weeks after my last loss).

Do you use the aspirin, where you are supposed to dissolve it in water, and then drink it? I am thinking of going on it from the moment I get a BFP.

haidri · 24/06/2021 12:47
@haidri I had 4 mc in a row and self administered 150mg aspirin daily from 1dpo.
I’m now 26 weeks pregnant and things have been going perfectly so far.
The only thing I did differently was the aspirin so I do think it’s what helped. I’m still taking it now. Both my midwife and consultant were on board and the consultant even said she’d have prescribed it had I not already been on it!
I'm so excited for you! I hope we both make it till the end! X

Aspirin dispersible is usually for dissolving in water & then drinking

I don't think it will matter whether it's the dispersible type or the ones you swallow whole. I got the enteric coated ones which are supposed to be a bit kinder for your stomach and I always take them with a meal.

I started mine the day I got my BFP.

Hth.

After 3 years ttc including one miscarriage in 2020 at 6 weeks, I started 75mg aspirin during first week of my cycle back in January. Now 24 weeks pregnant and baby is fine. I did have some red and brown spotting between 3.5-10 weeks, so was surprised that everything was fine at scans. Stopped taking aspirin around 6-7 weeks pregnant as felt like it was burning my insides.
