Wisdom tooth infected, help

I wondered if anyone could help or had advice on what to do. I'm 16 weeks pregnant and on antibiotics for an Infected wisdom tooth but they haven't started to work yet and the pain is unreal. I haven't slept in 2 day, can barely eat and drink. Called 111 twice they just said to speak to the pharmacist which I did they can't give me any pain relief unless I speak to the doctor, tried speaking to the doctor the receptionist didn't want to know and said I need to speak to the dentist which I did who said to speak to the doctor 🥺I'm so worried about the baby not getting any food and drink and no one seems to be helping at all. Just lay here crying all day in agony

Don't worry about baby - they generally take what they need from you.

If you can, try and drink a sugary drink (with a straw maybe).

I don't know anything about what you can mix drugs-wise but can you take paracetamol?

Other than that I'd be inclined to phone 111 again and tell them that no one is helping you and can they arrange an appointment at A&E or get a nurse to ring you immediately.

Alternatively, maybe EPU worth a try?

Aww I really feel for you, try and drink to keep your fluids up I found the only time my tooth stopped hurting was when I had warm water in my mouth. I would try and keep drinking maybe those milkshake things with vitamin in so you keep hydrated and a bit of energy. With pain killers I would call 111 again and explain what happened. They might get a dr to call back and tell you what you can take.

Fluids and some multivitamins will keep baby happy, you can manage without food for a few days if you have some fat stores.
It is super painful to have infected teeth, I've had loads and find the oain is mainly down to pressure so painkillers are not much use tbh. Try washing your mouth out with hot (as hot as you can tollerate) salty water, it can help release the infected fluid via the gums. The antibiotics will take at least a few days to start doing their job, it will start feel much better then.

Thank you to you all for replying. I got hold of the doctor and she said I can take co codamol which Im not keen on doing so went to the urgent care unit and they just said paracetamol and see how it goes 😞

Hey,

I had an awful toothache yesterday, I swished my mouth with salt water 4 times & then applied clove oil diluted with almond oil applied to my gum. Pain was gone and numbed within 1 hour.
I’m 32 weeks. X hope it helps

purplecorkheart · 11/06/2021 22:49

Please check with your pharmacist but I found clove oil a saviour when I had an awful tooth ache. Another tooth ache same tooth it was something absol (wrong spelling, it was a slightly gold tinted liquid that may also have been treated for mouth ulcers). I used to also gargle with mouth was a lot. It seemed to numb the pain.

@purplecorkheart think it's anbesol liquid you're thinking of. I like that for when the kids are teething too, much better than the gels.
