I’m 11 weeks pregnant and went to the doctors for a appointment due to having bad sickness whilst there she asked me to do a Urine sample which came back with no infections but blood and protein in my urine she wasn’t very reassuring and has made me panic this is my first pregnancy I’ve had a few cramps as well but haven’t had any bleeding as such apart from in my urine has anyone else had this I don’t have my scan for another week but they won’t get a earlier one unless I actually bleed

@Mrcorby00 did the GP not tell you what this could mean? Maybe ask your midwife? I had protein in my urine at my booking appointment and midwife said it can just be from excess discharge, so I did a repeat test straight after a shower to remove any traces of discharge and came back no protein x

When speaking with the doctor she hasn’t been very informative at all in fact basically told me that this wasn’t good and pointed me in the direction of miscarriage which has really made me panic she rang back today and asked me to do another sample and this came back the same but said there only a little bit of blood and protein but has asked me to go In for another appointment and has said I have to wait till Monday for my scan to see if everything is okay

I had blood in my urine with my first at 8 weeks and was equally panicked. I was given antibiotics without further tests for a UTI.

Several times throughout that pregnancy I had trace blood but they could never replicate an infection so just seemed to be one of those things.

That baby is just about to be 4 and a picture of health and sassiness.

(My GP at that first test was equally unhelpful and instead gave me a very patronising lecture about how many early pregnancies end in miscarriage... bitch).

Try not to worry, nothing I could find suggested that it would be anything to indicate a problem with baby at all. Good luck with the scan on Monday.

Thank you that has been a little bit more reassuring I guess I’m just panicked more because of having cramps and I suffer with anxiety and people have been putting things in my head like a molar pregnancy and I guess it’s all just getting to me I’m trying not to worry for the fact of baby I guess it’s more worrying cause this will be my first scan so haven’t known if anything was okay before this x

I should have said, I have had loads of cramps all the way through all 3 pregnancies and again everything was fine. Noone tells you about it before, but it is totally normal. Unless you are actually bleeding then chances are everything is fine.

I am currently sat on the sofa with quite painful cramps at 34 weeks.

But I completely understand, I was constantly googling signs of early miscarriage with my first.

The best thing someone told me is that the uterus is a muscle, the only reaction it has to anything is to cramp. That includes growing, stretching etc. I get cracking cramps now if my bubs does too much squirming, so cramps mean good things too!

@Muststopeating thank you I really appreciate it I guess the doctor had just put the worst in my head making me panic a lot to the point of crying in frustration I'm very stressed and guess it won't go until I've had my scan but thank you you have eased a lot of my stress x

The same thing happened to me. I was (and still am really) suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum and I had a lot of proteins and ketones as well as blood in my urine. That was at 6 weeks when the first dip test in urine was done and I'm 17+1 today. Definitely talk to your midwife about this and they can point you in the right directs that's not always going back to talk to your GP x

@Muststopeating I will deffo talk to my midwife when I have a set one I currently don't have a set one which doesn't really help tbh but supposed to be getting one in the next few weeks x
