Babymoon after one vaccine?

I'm due dc4 in November and am desperate for a night away with just dp before! Dd3 still comes into our bed at around 2am and I want one full nights sleep before the baby arrives!!

I've only had one vaccine and am due my second in August (which will take full effect in September).

Would you still book a night away? I'm thinking a nice hotel in the middle of no where so we can just do nothing bar eat, read and sleep!!

Yes I would without even giving it a thought, we had a hotel break booked before they ever announced pregnant women would get the vaccine, I had one before we went but would've gone regardless.

At least a week after 2nd dose, yes sounds good. I'd go for self catered to be even safer, myself.

I wouldn't go before the 2nd dose, 1 dose is only 33% protection against the Delta. The risks to pregnant women are a bit worse than they thought last year.

(I have a UK holiday with extended family booked for before my 2nd dose - was booked before I was pregnant. Feeling v unsure about that one. )

I'm in a similar situation (second vaccine August, due December) and we are thinking of maybe going away end September if everything looks ok in the world then. We're not booking it yet though; maybe in July or August, if we feel brave and there's a money-back guarantee on the booking.

Yes, I’m pregnant and have gone away for a night before I even received the first dose. We have two nights away planned before the second. I hadn’t given it a second thought, but I’m on the tube and working out of the home anyway, never felt anxious about any of it.

In the UK, absolutely!

Girlmama3 · 08/06/2021 09:50

Thanks everyone. Maybe I'll wait a bit longer before booking it. Self catering is a great idea especially if masks do vanish 😩

It would be nice to have something to look forward to (before the baby!)

Mainly OP what is it you’re worried about?

Girlmama3 · 08/06/2021 09:59

@SmidgenofaPigeon I'm worried about the Indian variant and that one vaccine isn't enough. My lungs are already squished!

And, if all restrictions go soon it won't be as safe as it has been. I'll continue to wear a mask though.

I get your point but you’re as likely to pick it up in Tesco as anywhere if you’re going to get it. Many areas will have far lower rates than others too. Generally it’s pretty safe, especially in hotels that have gone the extra mile with lots of measures to make it so.

ImmyMc · 08/06/2021 17:38

Personally, I wouldn't. The vaccine really isn't that effective as a first dose, and the Indian variant is so infectious. The UK is a bit weird about not really spelling out the dangers to pregnant women. I don't live in the UK anymore, and where I live pregnant women are considered high risk in all trimesters because of the changes to the immune system. We are told here that you are much more likely to end up on a ventilator if you are pregnant, regardless of the trimester. If it were me, I'd play it safe.

I'm 25 weeks and have 2 nights booked away next week. It's in a camping pod so I figured that's quite isolated. I'm only mixing with people outdoors now though.
