Hi all,

I'm only 5+4 weeks and can book my covid jab from today,

I'm just curious to see if people are booking ASAP or waiting until they're past 12 weeks to book?

Thank you

I waited until after 12 weeks

Pompom2367 · 08/06/2021 07:18

I had my first before I found out I was pregnant and just had my second at 11 weeks

Verbena87 · 08/06/2021 07:23

Following along to see what people are doing/have been advised - I’m currently waiting for a frozen embryo transfer and if it works my second dose will be due in the first trimester. It’s tricky isn’t it? I work in a secondary school so am keen to be fully vaccinated.

Having my first jab tomorrow and I'm 7 weeks. The data so far support having the jab, so I am.

I've decided to wait altogether until baby's here. I was offered it during pregnancy prior to it being rolled out to everyone (UK) due to a health condition. Spoke at length with my midwife and consultant who were supportive about waiting as they can't guarantee it's 100% safe with there being limited data. Info on Tommy's etc says the same (I'm not saying this to influence anyone, but that's why I'm waiting).
I see my consultant again next month and will discuss it further. Due to my previous job I've had every vaccine possible and taken all others during pregnancy.

I'm really unsure what to do. I'm nervous about waiting another 7 weeks... but also nervous about getting it in these 12 weeks of major baby development :/

I've provisionally booked my first one for 24th June. (Exactly 8 weeks). Gives me enough time to speak to the GP and midwife about whether I should cancel and rebook in 4/5 weeks time, or if this is okay.

So many appointments are flying out that I just thought to book now, then least I have an appointment sorted if the midwife agrees before 12 weeks is okay.

I'm waiting until after 12 weeks, although I'm 11 weeks now so think I'll get it booked as I know appointments are hard to get

stormelf · 08/06/2021 13:41

I've just booked mine for day after my 12 week scan. I'll be 13 weeks then, I did want to wait a little longer but it was the only appointment available in my area

Sleepyquest · 08/06/2021 14:03

I'm waiting until after the 12 week scan which is a little way off (am only 6+1!)

Rosieposy89 · 08/06/2021 14:09

I waited until 24 weeks (25+1 now). Personally I'd feel uneasy having it in first trimester - moreso in case I got a fever as I know these can affect baby early on in particular. I had a lot of anxiety about getting the vaccine, but there are known risks to catching Covid in pregnancy so I can only act on that.

Marauder94 · 08/06/2021 14:12

I think realistically, I'm going to cancel a few days before and rebook for after 12 weeks, just wanted to know other peoples opinions.

Thank you :)

@Rosieposy89 the fever thing worried me but didn’t happen with my first so I feel easier about it for me personally now. It’s the lack of data that worries me, but I’m a secondary school teacher so work is actively dangerous whatever Matt Wankcock says, and the covid risks to pregnancy are known rather than hypothetical vaccine risks. Basically I’d like signing off work for 12 weeks, then another 2 to build immunity, but that’s not an actual thing.

MyBabyBoyBlue · 08/06/2021 15:30

I had mine at 34 weeks (a few weeks after it became recommended). If I were in early pregnancy now, I would wait until 12 weeks, for no other reason than I wouldn't want to risk a fever in the first trimester, but of course that depends on whether you are able to keep yourself fairly isolated in the interim period - that would def factor into my decision. The data coming out of the US and Israel is good and also growing data coming out of the UK.
