Overdue - C section

Looking for some advice. I'll be 41 weeks on Monday and my midwife has advised I opt for induction due to an episode of reduced movements at 39 weeks. All has been fine since! My preference as it stands is to use the MLU, she also said this is less likely to happen the longer my pregnancy goes on!

Thing is, I'm terrified of being induced. I know my birth preferences are very all or nothing but I would much prefer a section to an induction on labour ward. The thought of it really terrifies me and I've been in tears the last few days thinking that this is what's going to be expected of me.

Has anyone opted for a section over induction due to post-dates and the consultant been happy to do it?

You have the right to choose a section, if a consultant will not agree they should refer you to another who will.

I have already told my consultants I will opt for an elcs over an induction. A bit different for me as I had an elcs last time with our twins so they are happy to go with whatever I choose anyway. I had an induction with my 1st and wasn't keen to do it again, my 2 spontaneous labours were better though I did have to have waters broken for me.

I think if it were me I would ask them to assess me and tell me my bishops score, this is a measure of how near you are to going into labour naturally, your cervix may already be dilated enough for them to break your waters for example and that could mean you skip all the drugs etc. I wish I'd asked with my induction at 40+10. I was nowhere near labour, cervix high up and closed but I let them go for the induction anyway, ended up on the drip but still didn't dialate and had an EMCS. I would choose planned cs over the drip any day but I think would have preferred a vaginal birth if it was 'brought on' by less artificial means (ie just breaking waters)

I am 40+4 today and a C-Section at 42 week is what we agreed with my consultant. I did not want to have an induction, and she did not want to do it earlier. If baby comes in the meanwhile she will come.

I had another episode of reduced movements so have a consultant appointment tomorrow, I'm hoping that they would be able to do a section before 42 weeks given I've had more than one episode now!
