Hi Ladies,

I recently got my BFP and have been running the last few months nothing mega just like 2/3 5kms a week but wanted to keep this up. Just wondering if anyone else has exercised through pregnancy? xx

I came on to ask almost the opposite of this. I'm just under 9weeks and this morning (all day!) sickness is a killer! I'm working all day at my desk and in the evening I'm just so wiped and nauseous that I'm barely able to get any exercise down. I feel so bad. Should I be forcing myself to do more? Or am I ok to do what I can when I can for now?

Hi @PriscillaQueenOfDessert You are not alone! See my previous post. I simply cannot push myself to do more than I am - the nausea and dizziness becomes so bad if I do, then all I can do afterwards is lay down flat, and even then I struggle to sleep because of it. I think we just have to do what we can!

I think the general advice is that it’s safe to carry on what you were doing pre-pregnancy, just don’t go too hard trying to up it.
I’m nearly 19 weeks and still riding my horse 4 times a week. I’d be doing more but work 🤷🏼‍♀️
I don’t do as much as I was doing, in terms of jumping etc, as I decided to slim down any potential extra risks where I could, but it’s enough to keep me busy and feeling generally fit.
I have thrown off over the poor darling’s side more times than I would like to say tho 😂

@PriscillaQueenOfDessert I could barely move in the first trimester. Seriously, even a short walk left me feeling terrible. I forced myself to run two miles at the weekend but looking back I really shouldn't have bothered. Listen to your body and rest! First trimester is grim, but chances are you'll feel much better in a month and can do some exercise again then.

@PriscillaQueenOfDessert Don't feel bad... first trimester is SO hard!! Rest, sleep, eat, repeat... and worry about it when your body feels better :-)

Thank you all. I won't beat myself up about not exercising for a while. I guess the most important thing is that I'm healthy and getting through these rough few weeks

@PriscillaQueenOfDessert most important thing for exercising during pregnancy is to listen to your body. If you are wiped out by the time you have done the essentials for the day then don't feel bad for not doing dedicated exercise on top. It will get better and you'll feel more able to squeeze it in.

I found it hard to train through the 1st trimester. Being more flexible with it than I was before was key to getting some done but I'm also a sahm and don't need to leave the house to train which is very helpful.

I exercised all through pregnancy - I had terrible nausea and threw up a LOT through my whole pregnancy, and some exercise was one of the only things that made me feel better. My consultant was really encouraging, and just told me to do what felt good and listen to my body.

My usual Yoga and spin made me nauseous, but I carried on with light arm weights and lots of squats/lunges/TRX workouts/boxing right until I had DS. I had an embarrassingly easy c-section recovery, and I think it's because I was in such good shape.
