Maternity leave entitlement

Im due 16th September and hoping to finish work on 31st August. However I’ve still got 46.25 hrs AL entitlement and 14 hrs of bank holiday to use up. So 61.25 hrs in total. My mind has drawn a blank as to when the earliest I could have off (so have some annual leave and then straight on mat leave) if anyone could help that would be much appreciated!

Just work it out backwards from the day you want to finish surely?

Does your leave year run Jan to Dec or are you planning on having the full 12 months off?

Personally I'd hang onto any entitlement and take it at the end of my mat leave. But my leave year runs April to March and I only took six months off (but adding on leave meant I had longer off IYSWIM)

I’m hoping to take a year off. My leave is the same as yours (April to March). I’d rather go off sooner as WFH is driving me bonkers 😞

We can't tell you as depends how many hours uou work in a week. Decide when you want to finish, take the annual leave then start maternity leave when that is used up. As long as you start maternity leave by your expected due date.

For example I am using up 3 weeks of annual leave from July 3rd, then officially going on maternity leave on July 24th as my due date is 25th July.

I’m part time, work 21 hrs a week.

I took two weeks AL before mat started then added the rest onto the end of my leave.
Depends if you want them all before, after or split?
Just need to work out how many weeks your entitled to from your hours and decide how much you want

Well then you are just short of 3 weeks of annual leave. So can start around 37 weeks pregnant and then start maternity leave on due date.

Thank you, yes think I will just take the 3 weeks annual leave before and then start mat leave on due date. I’ve got a 4 year old who starts school first week of September and wanted some time prior to that to prep for that and get ready for baby number 2. I’ve never had to sort out mat leave before as I had literally left uni prior to having my daughter 2 months after. I started my new job when she was 11 months so never had to deal with this side of things before.

I could only take a proportion of my annual leave before maternity leave started (as it’s not technically earned yet) but then stuck it on the end as it all carried over.
