Hi all,

I'm looking at pumping and keep coming back to Elvie products. I know they're pricey and was wondering if anyone with experience of the Elvie Curve or the Elvie Pump could share their insights into how useful they did/didn't find it?

Also out of interest, does anyone know if both are totally silent or is that just the Elvie Pump?!

Thanks x

Hey can I follow, I would love to see the responses. A work colleague of mine has one and swears by it, said its totally worth the price. X

Loved it for being discreet and quiet and could literally do it anywhere.
But, leaks and not anywhere near as efficient as the medela.

I'd say wait until baby is here and expressing is working for you before investing.

A Haakaa style pump is great for the early days when milk is coming in and establishing. Then you can move onto something else when you know it will work for you.

I've seen a much cheaper version on Amazon that I'm interested in but waiting until baby is here. Reviews look somewhat promising though

Elvie pump is amazing!!! Can’t recommend more highly. Handsfree and quiet, means you can take a walk, change baby, get a snack. It’s awesome.

All the others are just as good at pumping, but if you’re intending on expressing regularly, it’s fab not to be plugged into a wall the whole time!

Also, I know it’s expensive, but if you ebf v. Formula, it’s the same cost as 2-3 months of formula, so definitely worth it.

Silent wise, it’s almost there, and I pumped with friends and they didn’t even notice I was doing it. Very discreet and fits in your bra.

Only problem I had was the spout on the pump leaked after a while, so I emailed the Elvie team and they dispatched a new one immediately. Really good service!

Haven’t used the curve. Expect it’s silent though. Similar to a hakaa, but probably more comfortable and again, hands free. These are good for let down when you’re nursing on one side.

I’ve not used an elvie, but can highly recommend the medala. I pumped for a year and it was quick, efficient, easy to clean and use 👍🏻 Worth its weight in gold. I’ve just bought a new one for the next baby!

30littletoes · 04/06/2021 18:01

Hated it. Used to leak all down my front (no use it being silent when you’re covered in milk, that’s not discreet!), and took ages. I switched to a medley which was much more efficient and loved it.

30littletoes · 04/06/2021 18:02

Medela* autocorrect sorry!

Are you planning to exclusively pump, or have something to use alongside breastfeeding?

If it’s the former, and you plan to exclusively pump, then you need a hospital grade pump, which the elvie is not.

I’ve just got a Fraupow which is brilliant, I did a review on it (just because I like it that much, not paid for or anything!) it’s a fraction of the price of an elvie, really quiet and discreet:

I’m exclusively pumping for my 10 week old, I have a spectra S1 hospital grade pump that I use at home, then the Fraupow for out and about. I did have a bellababy and freemie cups, but they’re not “truly” hands free really (and I felt like the bellababy was going to rip my nipples off 😳)

elephantsneverforget19 · 04/06/2021 18:13

I don't know what the Elvie is like but I always wondered too.
I loved the Nature Bond collection cup, it quite often collected more than I could pump with my Spectra electric pump

icepackquestion · 04/06/2021 18:22

I hated mine but I gave it to a friend and she loves it!

Raindropumbrella · 04/06/2021 19:28

It leaked for me. I swapped to the Madela and much preferred it

discoballs88 · 06/06/2021 10:30

Thanks for all the insights everyone. I've ordered the cheaper of the two to see how I get on with it - have heard so many mixed things but like the idea of the flexibility it can seemingly offer. Looking forward to giving it a try. X

I saw you ordered it. Wanted to notify you that if you store it away for long term use you need to make sure you charge/update the software frequently otherwise long term storage can cause the pump to be redundant. I hope you do not find yourself in my position having to buy a new pump because the old doesn't last more than a year in offline mode!!

MeadowHay · 01/11/2021 11:43

Assuming you're not planning to exclusively pump, look at the Pipetta instead - a fraction of the price and very similar albeit not as discreet as it's audible and I think bulkier. I'm 2 weeks PP and very happy with it, I pump most days just for 10-20 mins each side whilst my baby feeds off the other side just to build a small milk stash for my DH to do occasional night feeds.
