Hiya

My partner bought us a hot tub and I've seen your not allowed to use them on hot but our one goes as low as 20c from what I'm reading it's ok to use them if they aren't higher than 36c? Anyone for any experience of this as obviously babies health comes first but I could reallt do with a cool down and some jets for the back pain.

It's says online not to use longer than 10 mins if it's 35c

Looking for reassurance and any experience plz!
Help a sweaty very large mum please.
Thank you!

20c will be freezing.

Baby bath temperature and birth pool temperatures at 37 degrees, so I think you'll be fine.
The risk is that if you have it really hot you might feel hot and get dehydrated and faint.

Missmonkeypenny · 03/06/2021 10:34

20c is absolutely freezing, OP.

You can use it at 36, just don't sit in it for longer than half an hour at a time, no jets and get out if you start to feel wobbly.

30 degrees is the temp of a therapeutic pool, one that you’d do physio in, and is a pleasant temp to lol about in. No reason you couldn’t have the jets massage your back.

Public swimming pools are set at 26-29 typically.

Most people's bodies will tell them if they are overheating.

Oh my word so I just tried to get in at 20c!! Don't advise that!
Ladies you are right it's bloody freezing!! I didn't realise pools were set to 26c ish so I'm guessing that's a good temp that won't boil the baby

When your baby is born, their bath will be 37c Grin. Boiling the baby isn’t the issue, it’s whether it will make you feel hot/faint.

Terriblyold · 03/06/2021 15:45

Just laughed out loud at "boiling the baby" 😂

Pumpkinstace · 03/06/2021 15:47

Our local pool is 29 degrees and I think that's cold.

Horehound · 03/06/2021 15:51

26 will still be cold. They are cooler because you exercise in them and of you exercised in a pool of 37 degrees you'd be sweating buckets lola bath of 37 is fine for 20 mins...

I've used the hot tub in both pregnancies for around 30 mins each go and it's set to 37 degrees. I get out sooner if I feel warm/before I have a sweaty head but generally when I keep my shoulder above the water I'm fine.
I was more cautious (only 15/20 mins) during the first trimester though.

Thank you that's really reassuring! I will set it lower so I can sit in for longer I think

36 degrees is fine - just keep your shoulders out of the water and you won't overheat. The jets aren't fine to use - i was given a strong talking to by my MW when she found out I'd been using mine - apparently they can bring on uterine contractions.

sarah13xx · 03/06/2021 21:44

Yip I read anything 36/37 or less is fine, I’ve set ours no warmer than I have my bath and I’ve just stayed in it for less than half an hour at a time and have hardly been in it much because I don’t feel like I can relax 🙈 but definitely seems fine to use at a lower temperature!

Oh I've not heard this about the jets!!

I turned ours down to 32 degrees when I was pregnant and that was fine for me. 20 degrees sounds hellish haha

MrsMoastyToasty · 04/06/2021 13:30

I was told not to use the jets in my bath because the action can soften your ligaments and muscles and so bring on early labour.

Raindropumbrella · 04/06/2021 19:34

I found even 37C too cold Grin
