Experiences of ECV?

I’m 35+4 and due to have my routine 36 week scan tomorrow. Baby is still transverse as I can feel all her kicks in my side and has been since about 31 weeks (after being breech up until then!) so looking likely I will be offered an ECV and if that fails then a c-section. I’m really not sure how I feel about having an ECV though, can anyone share their experiences if you’ve had one?

Following - I've also got my 36 week appointment tomorrow and baby has been breech the past few weeks. I'm kind of put off ECV from reading other people's experiences on mn and thinking a elective c-section would be a calmer, more positive experience.. still interested to hear about more people's experiences though!
Let's hope our babies turn around in time! Pretty sure mine hasn't just yet as his solid head is still under my ribs Grin

I had an ECV followed by an elective c section with dd. She’s almost 16 now but the ECV experience is still really vivid in my mind. It felt really invasive and dh stopped them when I began to panic. She was born a week later by and it was a really lovely experience. I’m sure others will have had positive experiences with an ECV.

Good luck with your decisions

I had an ECV with my first baby and have to say it was uncomfy after trying 3 times enough was enough and my husband nearly told them off as he could see I was struggling. I think everyone is different though as the lady before me had a successful ECV so you may be the same. I am pregnant with my 2nd now who is currently breech but I will not have the ECV this time. I had an elcs and it was a really relaxing experience.

@Nam095 what have you decided to do? Im 38 weeks today :)

I had an unsuccessful ECV this week at 37+5, ill be honest it's not the nicest but its manageable if that makes sense? I can see why people request to stop or panic but i had the most amazing consultants doing it and they were so calm and I had one telling me to breathe the gas and air and breathe out and to only focus on her voice - she was amazing which helped me so much.
Unfortunately wasn't meant to be and baby was playing very stubborn and kept slipping out of their hands. I felt quite bruised after but no worse than a gym session but it just felt weird knowing why I hurt.
I would do it again if it meant a chance of baba turning but now booked for a section next week :) xx

@summerday99 ah I’m glad you had a good experience with it! I didn’t end up needing an ECV in the end as baby was actually head down but she was lying in a weird position so that her legs were extended across my abdomen 🤣 I actually had my baby girl on 15th June after being induced on the 14th as the scan picked up she was measuring below 3rd centile. She was 4lb 14ozs at birth at 37+2 bless her 😅

I hope everything goes smoothly for your section 🥰 x

I had a successful ECV at 37 weeks with DC1, I'll be honest it wasn't a pleasant feeling at all and I was pretty sore for a few days BUT I desperately didn't want a c-section so it was worth it. DD was born at 40+11 after being induced.

Congrats OP, sorry didn't see the last message before posting!

@Nam095 Aww a massive congratulations, thats amazing news 🥰 thats great she turned for you as well!

Aww, bless her. My little one is also measuring small as well so under consultant as its been under the 10th line the whole way but baby is now on the 16th percentile so they're not too worried and happy for me to go to 39 weeks. Thats such lovely news, hope you're both doing well xxx
