Maternity belt to support in third trimester?

Hello

Does anyone have recommendations for maternity belts to support the belly and back in the third trimester?

I’m in so much discomfort - my back hurts, everything feels swollen, and my pelvic region is so uncomfortable. I just feel so teary and rundown due to the discomfort/pain. The foetus is doing absolutely fine but I don’t want another 12 weeks of feeling so sore and tired.

Please help.

Thanks

I have the babygo support belt from amazon which is pretty good value. It brings some relief but sadly its not a magic wand for my aches and pains! Looking forward to not being pregnant anymore!

Sounds like you could have SPD.. which is horrendous pain!! I would be almost in tears walking my daughter to pre school and back, only 10min trip! Speak to your midwife about physio they also supply you with a support band xx

I also got the Babygo one, very reasonable and much to my surprise, it completely dealt with my back pain. Mine was quite different though, as mine was caused by being too still all day while sitting down working from home - but a standing desk and sitting on a birth ball didn't help at all, so I really didn't think the belt would. But it completely stopped it! Hope you find one that helps! Definitely worth trying.

What is SPD, @Snoopy28x?

Thank you for suggestions, will look at Babygo. There is a lot of choice and seems to be a massive range of prices.

I feel overwhelmed.

Hey, I'm 30 weeks now and from about 16 week onwards been struggling with hip pain. Pelvic area is also pretty sore now, but yours does sound worse. Just wanted to send you a virtual hug and a boost as it's quite hard and uncomfortable now Flowers As others have said, you should try exercises from a physiotherapist - your midwife can refer you, or your GP/consultant. NHS trusts also have lots of PDF leaflets available online regarding PGP/SPD exercises. For me personally, I need to move a little but regularly to ease it off. Sitting down for too long can be your worst enemy sometimes. Do you have a pregnancy pillow? If not, definitely invest in one. I haven't tried those belt support things myself, but I would if nothing else helped. I personally don't like the idea of wearing extra stuff when it's getting hot now, but obviously do whatever makes you feel better Flowers xx

I just used a big tubigrip bandage - difficult to get on as it was quite tight but I could not have done without it! Definitely helped me so much. I think anything firm would help. If it was too soft and stretchy I’m not sure if it would have made such a difference. Don’t worry, you will feel so much better with one OP!

OP I have the babygo belt too and it has helped but it is not a magic cure. I get stabbing pains in my groin and hip pain but what helps me is some very gentle exercise like swimming and yoga. If I’m sitting all day then the pain gets worse so I move as much as possible, even just putting some music on and stepping/shuffling from side to side seems to help me. Definitely speak to your midwife to see if you can get a physio referral. Hope the pain gets better Flowers

@RandomCatGenerator symphysis pubis dysfunction. Its so painful. I had it midway through with my first and just thought it was pregnancy pains. 2nd time I had it much earlier and was unbearable at times. Turning over in bed was a killer, or going up stairs. Pushing a trolley or buggy made it worse. Dont quote me on this.. but it's when your ligaments all relax it makes your pelvis to loose and it grinds together. I did read it being described as your walking round with a broken pelvis Shock which is exactly how it feels. Have a read about if the symptoms fit.

But definitely speak to your midwife sooner than later as they can get you exercises to help relieve the pain. Also sitting on a gym ball helps. And sit on a plastic bag in the car so you can swivel out with your legs together. Xx

I have this one, cannot go out without it now! It helped in last pregnancy and has helped this time too.
It doesn't eradicate the pain and discomfort but definitely helps.
I've also had done physio support via midwife referral so definitely ask for some help.
Good luck

I’ve bought the babygo - thank you.

I’m in a country with totally privatised healthcare - I’ll see what a physio says.

Thanks so much
