Best Baby Care Book

Hi. 34 and first baby, 12 weeks :-) My Mum bought me ‘Your No Guilt Pregnancy Plan’ which I’ve just started and is great, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any good baby care books? Literally ones where it tells you how to change a nappy for example Grin I know I will learn ‘on the job’ but I think I would find it quite interesting to swot up! I’d also like to start getting into this pregnancy as worryingly up to now I’ve felt underwhelmed and have no idea why. Thank you in advance Smile

I don't think I've ever come across a baby book that tells you how to change a nappy :o Unless you mean how to fold cloth nappies. Disposable ones are quite self explanatory (as are the modern types of cloth nappy) and the midwives will help you in hospital if you're really stuck.

I don't have any general recommendations but I read various books on sleep, breastfeeding, weaning, co-sleeping if any use to you.

I do think a lot of the general baby manuals can be a bit rigid and unhelpful if your baby doesn't seem to have read the book :)

The gentle sleep book is amazing for helping your expectations when it comes to babies sleep! I wish I'd read it before I had my baby. It all would have made more sense.

Ha! Of course GrinGrin I’m perhaps over thinking all this a bit too much maybe haha. Thank you for the advice, much appreciated

My friend gave me 'your baby week by week' which I think is going to be really useful. It's less 'how to change a nappy' but is small digestible chapters to read each week. What to expect re. Sleep, feeding, changing, development etc. Until 24 weeks

I’ve seen some of the DK books which looks a nice easy read, I’m obviously not going to use it as a guide to bringing up my child Grin, but it will get me more into the mindset of actually having a baby!
