Hi all,

I’m 5 weeks tomorrow. I’ve had a few symptoms and my clear blue digital tests updated to 3+ weeks yesterday so I know my HCG is raising nicely.

My baby growth app says heartbeat can start from as early as 5 weeks. When I have my scan I will be 6+3. Do most people see a heartbeat at this time or is it better to wait until 7?

@Mayneedanextraroom

I had a scan at what should have been 6+3 and only found a sac with yolk sac present, they said I was measuring between 4/5 weeks so I was terrified it was bad news especially as I had bleeding too, fast forward just under 2 weeks and there was a baby measuring 7weeks with a heartbeat, one week behind my dates. I’d definitely wait a little longer to avoid any stress if they don’t see much, and congratulations x

@SleepingStandingUp I hope you don’t mind me asking but were the babies in the same sac? I felt the same but only saw one baby and genuinely didn’t think it was possible to miss one! X

Not same sac but shared placenta so effectively at that gestation I guess it looks similar,looking at the scan there's two bubbles, I asked and they said oh that's the baby, that's the sac or something. I think I was about 6+5 by them but 12 week scan moved me earlier so I'd have been about 6+2 l reckon and I'm guessing an inexperienced sonographer. I think missing one is unusual but not unheard of

@SleepingStandingUp that’s amazing 🥰 what a surprise for you, I don’t think I have a hidden one, but really interesting to hear of your experience, thanks for sharing x
