Dysport/Botox early pregnancy - help!

Hello ladies!
I’m feeling like such an idiot and very worried.
I had Dysport injected into my crows feet and frown line. I had no idea I was pregnant otherwise I would never have had it done.
I would have been 3.5 weeks pregnant at the time, including the two weeks between period and ovulation. So I would have been 1.5 weeks gestation!
Has anyone else done this by accident, or know of anyone this has happened to, and all turned out fine with healthy baby?
I’ve spoken to doctor and they said very unlikely to cause harm but it just hasn’t been studied, as with a lot of things with pregnant women. Feeling like I’d love to hear from others this has happened to, as I’ve googled far too much and scared myself too :-( :-( :-( Thanks Xxx

I have botox for medical reasons and my consultant said it was an absolute no in pregnancy unless absolutely needed due to the lack of testing. Obviously as it stays in your system for months I have been unable to have it while ttc. I'm sure it's fine xx

I did exactly the same as you! Don't panic :)
I'm currently staring at my 2 month old snoring away!

Hi there, I appreciating you taking the time to reply but I am a bit confused, are you trying to worry me further? I specifically asked to hear off others who have been through something similar or know of someone who has had this happen, not to be told that Botox is an absolute no no, I know this already, hence why I’m in a panic. Thank you

KittyKat1Aa · 01/06/2021 10:44

Hi there TH22, apologies, my message at 10:42 was meant for Rosey Posey, not you :-)

Thanks so much for replying, it’s really good to know it’s happened to others with no ill effects. If you don’t mind me asking, how far along we’re you when you had it done? Did you seek medical advice? Thanks so much again

@KittyKat1A I was only trying to help! The doctor told you it was very unlikely to be harmful so I would be reassured by that. A doctor wouldn't lie, at preconception appointment I was told of known risks to other medications, if botox was potentially that harmful then I would have been specifically told to use contraception as happens to other medications. The dose for cosmetic reasons would be small as well as the muscles are tiny in the facial area so there's lower risk as well.

You'll be fine OP don't worry, most of us do things we shouldn't before we know we were pregnant. I had botox myself in the days before unexpectedly falling pregnant. No point beating yourself up over something you can't change. There will have been plenty other women in the same situation before us.

KittyKat1Aa · 01/06/2021 23:46

@shivawn thanks for your reply! You’re right, there isn’t anything I can do now. Just wish I could enjoy this pregnancy without the worry. Wishing us both happy healthy babies Xxx

@KittyKat1A No problem! And please don't give yourself a hard time, I honestly think this is a small thing in comparison to mothers who smoke throughout pregnancy knowing the proven risks!

KittyKat1Aa · 03/06/2021 07:29

@shivawn that’s so true! We didn’t do it intentionally! I’ve heard stories about people lying about being pregnant so that they can continue to get their Botox treatments.
When are you due?

LakeShoreD · 03/06/2021 07:37

Not sure what the NHS say but Botox as a migraine treatment was considered safe during pregnancy when I lived in the US and I have a couple of friends that continued it for cosmetic purposes but not sure what they told their doctors. Don’t give yourself a hard time.

shivawn · 03/06/2021 10:21

@KittyKat1A I'm due early October, I'm 22 weeks today so just over the half way point!

Hello! Just wanted to provide an update now that baby has been born. Also for others who may be going through the same worrying situation!
Baby is nearly 6 weeks and seems healthy and normal. Phew! No signs of any effects from the Dysport.
If anyone else is going through this, try not to worry, I know it’s hard but every doctor and medical expert I spoke to told me it’s really low risk, they just don’t advise it as it can’t be tested on pregnant women! One doctor told me that the stress and anxiety I was feeling was way more of a risk :-)
