H&M baby sizes 0-1, 1-2 and 2-4 month

I'm buying baby clothes for baby due in a few weeks and I'm not sure what I need in each size especially as I have quite a few things in standard newborn, 0-3,
3-6 etc but I've also been buying things from H&M where they do 0-1 month, which I assume is comparable to newborn, then 1-2, 2-4, 4-6...

Logic tells me 2-4 is a bit bigger then 0-3 -!: 4-6 is probably bigger than 3-6 but is

1-2 month a bit smaller than a 0-3?

Generally, the larger size in the range is the size of the garment - eg you can't say something is 3-6mths if it would be too small for a 6mth old.
You're right in thinking 1-2mths will be slightly smaller than 0-3mths, and 2-4mths would be slightly bigger than 0-3mths on this basis.
I don't think there would be much difference between 4-6mths and 3-6mths.

In terms of numbers of things in each size, I have no idea (FTM to be), but I would probably avoid buying too much in the really small sizes, as that's what they grow out of the quickest. You can always get in a few more bits if your baby is really small.

I’ve found H&M come up really large, in particular leg length so my 26 month old is still in their 12-18mth leggings (still too long) but 2-3 from other shops. I like their stuff though - particularly found their vests & t shirts wash well

Thanks. That's very helpful @suziedoozy as I know sizes also differ from one shop to another, like adult clothes. Their baby clothes are very cute!

I've found H&M baby sizes to be too narrow and tight compared to other brands in the same sizes. I'd wait until baby's here and you can see their shape (long, short, thin, chunky etc) before deciding. I'd wait until at least about 4 months before buying any proper outfits too, before that they grow so quickly you'll hardly get any wear out of it. Plus if it's your first people always buy cute outfits for the baby.

I'd be buying 0-3 months, the 1-2/2-4 month stuff will hardly last at all and I've not seen other brands size for just a 1 month window (other than newborn stuff) so it sounds like a bit of a swizzle to me.

Plus if it's a summer baby I'd be going for bigger sizes to help keep cool

I found h&m newborn weirdly small like too tight. My baby Didn't even wear what i had bought. It just didn't fit well :(
But i now got 0-3 jacket and it fits her well at 1 month!

Also not much of a fan of H&M baby clothes for fit.

If your baby is over 8lb they will be too big for newborn clothes and go straight into up to 1 month, 9lb onwards is 0-3m. I'd recommend just a couple of the smaller sizes. My daughter didn't get good wear out on anything until 3-6 months.

@Helloitsmi How much did your baby weigh if you don't mind me asking?

@Chanel05 I don't think our baby will be over 8lb. I am getting less of the damper sizes but was pondering how the other sizes compare.

PP has said they are large so I suppose it depends on the baby to a degree.

I agree H&M come up large. My son was always at least one size behind how old he was. He is 9-25th centile. They do was great though and a good fit for cloth nappies.

My ds was born 4 years ago and 8lb 10oz and I found h &m to be too narrow fit for him. He was a big baby with broad shoulders and long limbed. I found George at Asda to be the most generous in size although Next was pretty good too for a larger baby. I wouldn't buy too many clothes in different sizes yet, as long as you have some in newborn and some in 0-3 or a couple in 0-1 you should be fine for the first few weeks. You can then obviously send out family or friends to buy more depending on the size and frame of your baby.

I found H&M long with big waists for the baby sizes, I had a few bits as they were quite good for when you're approaching the end of one normal clothes size but not quite big enough for the next.

The multipack tops for toddlers are a little big but are much more normal, and good value! The shoe sizing is weird too.

My baby was 7lbs 12oz and 21in.

I found some H&M clothes to be very narrow. I've had some lovely dresses from there but some of the leggings and shorts were just so narrow and completely unwearable. It also seems to be worse in the smaller sizes.

I think have enough for now in the smaller sizes up to 3 months and it sounds like H&M sizing might be a bit odd so I might avoid ordering any more from there for now.
