18 weeks and feeling nothing

Thought I was feeling some ‘popping’ feelings in my stomach until a couple of days ago and haven’t felt anything since. I had a scan at 16+4 and all was fine, I did get told I have anterior placenta as well.

Don’t really have a bump yet (only bloated in the evenings!) and starting to feel a bit anxious as 20 weeks scan is over 2 weeks away still. Anyone been in this boat or currently feeling the same? Just looking for some reassurance this has been normal for others Smile

Thank you!

Totally normal, 18 weeks would be early to feel movement/consistent movement. I'm 18 weeks with my 3rd and don't have my 20 week scan for another month, this is always a bit of a no man's land when you've few visible differences, symptoms often drop and no movement yet.

I'm 20 weeks and only in the past two weeks have developed a bump, had nothing before that.

I've only just started having a few little tiny kicks in the past week but only in the same place on one side. I have an anterior placenta as well.

Try not to worry, it's still really early. It's just difficult at this stage when you don't look or feel particularly pregnant. It will come.

I can totally empathise with this, I’m 17 weeks and feeling very similar. No major symptoms except for a few mood swings here and there, no real bump either and I’ve not felt any movement.

All ok with my 12 week scan and we are hoping to be able to hear the heartbeat at my next MW appointment as we’ve seen the heart beat but not heard it yet

I’ve been doing some reading and it seems all of this stuff is fairly common at this stage.

Symptoms are meant to ease by around 14/15 weeks and some people don’t have bumps until very late on.

In terms of movement, if it’s your first pregnancy the common advice seems to be that you don’t usually feel anything consistently until about 20 weeks anyway and in any pregnancy it’s only a worry if you’ve not felt anything at all by 24 weeks.

I know myself it’s so hard not to worry but if it’s really getting you down, talk to your midwife about it for some reassurance ❤️

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I didn’t feel anything until I think 21 or 22 weeks - certainly past 20 anyway. Now by 27 weeks it’s an absolute party down there!

Try not to worry. 18 weeks would be on the early side anyway. A friend with an anterior placenta who gave birth last year didn’t feel anything until 24.
