Restless leg!!

I am 30 weeks + pregnant and struggling a lot with restless leg. Everytime I sit down I'm restless, at bedtime my leg is restless. It only seems to be the one leg. I wake up in the middle of the night and sometimes can't get back to sleep because of it.

Has anyone experienced this and done anything that's helped?

It's getting too much now, I'm tired and this just isn't helping.

I'm 15 weeks pregnant and have this too. I had it before I got pregnant and found that taking magesnium tablets have really helped. I've carried on taking them and my midwife said that was OK. I have also using a magnesium lotion now which is helping with the sleep too which someone else had recommended on a thread I saw on here. Sometimes it helps if I sleep with a pillow under my legs so they're slightly elevated.
Maybe speak to the midwife or your GP and see if there's anything else they recommend? I feel your pain literally - it drives me to distraction when mine flares up x

Magnesium lotion?

I wonder if this would work. Where did could I purchase this?

See I have noticed having a bath helps but the bigger I get with this bump it's a struggle to get out the bath haha.

I sleep with a pillow under my leg but I really don't feel that helps at all x

I think there is more than one possible cause. Magnesium can help, like PP said. Also iron (try something absorbable such as iron bisglycinate or the more expensive Spatone one, and take it with orange juice and don't eat dairy for an hour or so near taking it).

I believe for a lot of people it's caused by an interruption to the dopamine/muscle communication. Dopamine regulates muscle movement, and if not enough it can cause involuntary muscle movement (RLS). Iron is involved in this communication too, hence supplementing helps some people.
You can also look at ways to raise your dopamine levels, which is really doing things that make you go 'ahhh' Grin Orgasms are the best! Also, exercise, especially where you get slightly out of breath, massage etc - things like that :) If your RLS is only mild, you might find that exercising a little more is enough to keep it away.

I had it....and it's the worst! Uggghh!

So, sympathy.

Honestly I just found walking around a lot and then elevating my legs helped a bit. Ultimately having a baby cured it.

Sorry, that's not helpful. But the positive, I guess, is that all my walking around meant I didn't put on weight.

Paracetamol can help too. The only time I didn't get restless legs was when I was pregnant. Drinking tonic water can help, but I don't think that's recommended in pregnancy.

Tonic water was a lifesaver for my RLS during pregnancy. The midwife who ran the mental health team at the hospital recommended it to me. I used to drink about a pint of the stuff every night.

I think there are a few brands for lotion. I saw another brand mentioned on a thread but I can't remember what it's called. The one I have is from Neom and is magnesium but it's mixed with lavender and essential oils etc to help you sleep. Might be worth trying Holland and Barratts or Boots and see what they suggest. The magnesium tablets I take are from H&B

I’m 29 weeks and I’ve been suffering from this for 7 weeks now. It’s horrendous and I’m awake most of the night with it. Mine is just a constant dull ache in my calves and ankles and it’s 100% worse when I’m in bed. I’m on iron tablets and magnesium and neither is helping. It’s making me really down and upset. Hopefully it’ll go after pregnancy.

I found lying on the floor with my legs up against a wall or the bed really helped.
