Can tooth problems cause harm to baby?

First time mum here so a worrier lol. I've noticed for the past couple of days I've been getting pain underneath a dental crown I had done a few years ago, not throbbing yet, it only hurts if I apply pressure to that crown.
I am currently 30 weeks 4days pregnant, just wanted to check if anyone has had any experience with this during pregnancy and will it affect or cause harm to my unborn baby if I dont get it treated until after birth as its manageable at the moment.

Thank you in advance 😊Smile

No, it won't cause problems to your unborn baby. Keep any eye on it though, you don't want to land up with an abscess nearer your birth date. Why don't you make an appointment with your dentist and see what's going on with it.

Dental nurse here, also pregnant. As PP said, it won’t directly harm baby but I’d definitely get it checked soon as. Last thing you want is it flaring up when you’re even further along. They may just temporise it in the meantime and do more permanent treatment (if required) after you’ve given birth. Also the earlier you get it checked the likelihood you can avoid an extraction/root canal treatment - a throb under a crown is not a good sign unfortunately!

Get it checked, sounds like the beginning of an infection. It won't harm your baby but the last thing you want is to be uncomfortable in the last weeks of pregnancy and also have to deal with horrendous toothache at the same time.

Severe dental infections can eventually lead to severe complications such as Ludwigs angina or sepsis (albeit rarely) so it's always best to nip it in the bud.

No it won't harm your baby, but neither will getting it treated and you don't want to wait for it to get worse
