Booking covid vaccine online

Cafeaulait27 · 22/05/2021 07:09

I’ve just tried to book my vaccination online as 32s and above are eligible, i thought the process had changed and it now asks if you’re pregnant. I went through the steps and it didn’t ask me - does anyone know if something’s gone wrong with it? The only question it asked was my access needs, nothing about pregnancy.

Thanks!

Talk to your gp surgery.
Mine sorted my jab for me as pregnant women were having problems getting the right ones through the website/mass centres.

Cafeaulait27 · 22/05/2021 07:23

Spoke to gp... they didn’t understand at all so I had to give up!

Just rang 119 and they said it may be that it’s because the system already knows that I’m pregnant. I did mention that a lot of people might get confused because it says it’s going to ask you but then it doesn’t!

But I’m on the phone to them now hopefully making my booking...

If you put in your nhs number and you have had some antenatal care the system k kws you are pregnant and will only offer suitable jabs

Coachee · 22/05/2021 07:31

It might be because the only reason they ask if you’re pregnant is to determine if you should have the Pfizer vaccine....but now the rules say all under 40s get Pfizer, and as you’re in that bracket, it doesn’t alter the vaccine you will get as it has to be Pfizer.

Hope that makes sense - I think the booking form is correctly following the steps in your case. I think it currently only asks over 40s if they’re pregnant (as it did me - I’m 40 and pregnant) as otherwise they could be booked an AZ vaccine, which isn’t recommended.

Pollibella1 · 22/05/2021 07:31

If you are under 40 I don't think it asks about pregnancy as you will automatically be given Pfizer/Moderna due to age.

SillyBry · 22/05/2021 07:32

I was worried about the same thing. The system said it knows... I gave them my nhs number, so I guess I have to trust in the system!

elvis4nuts · 22/05/2021 07:32

Morning! No one under 40 is being offered the AZ vaccine, so you'll only be asked if your preggo if you're over 40.
So book away! 💛 You're just fine x

Cafeaulait27 · 22/05/2021 07:33

Ah great! Must be my baby brain then 😊😆

I was just having the exact same issue and about to post on here about it! Right, I'll just book then.

Cafeaulait27 · 22/05/2021 07:43

It would be good if it told you on the booking system that it already knows but I didn’t see anything!

They’ll probably have quite a few women ringing up / not booking because it’s not clear that they already know you’re pregnant. My nearest hubs are over 10 miles away atm so I just wouldn’t want a wasted trip! Xx

I booked my jab and had it this week. They did ask if I was pregnant as part of the screening questions and just said "well congrats!" And moved on to the next question!

As pp says the screening q is just for over 40s who might otherwise be offered AZ.

Cafeaulait27 · 22/05/2021 07:50

Just spoke to someone on 119 - they said the question about pregnancy should still be asked.

She’s raised it as a concern so hopefully it will get resolved or there might be quite a few people asking!

She said just to keep trying to see if the question comes back, or try GP, or just book and see when you arrive xx

My DH had his on Tuesday, the vaccine center staff were going up and down the queue asking if anyone was bf or pregnant.

I'm younger, get mine this morning Smile

LilacSloth · 22/05/2021 08:04

This is what is says before you click 'book my appointments'

'Book your appointments
You need to:

have 2 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at 2 appointments

book both appointments at the same time
get the 2nd dose 8 to 12 weeks after getting your 1st dose

If you've had a positive COVID-19 test, you should wait 4 weeks from the date you had the test before you book an appointment.

When you book you'll only be offered appointments for vaccines that are recommended for you based on your age, any underlying health conditions, and whether you're pregnant'

Cafeaulait27 · 22/05/2021 08:05

@User0ne that’s good! Good luck for your jab today xx

@LilacSloth that’s good! It didn’t say that when I went to book so maybe they’ve changed it now because I raised it?! Not sure why the woman I spoke so said I still should be being asked though! Xx

I’ve booked it now woohoo 🙌

EdgeOfACoin · 22/05/2021 08:18

I had the same concern. Booked anyway and was sent to a Pfizer-only centre.

As PPs have said, I think all under-40s are automatically given Pfizer anyway.

Clarkey86 · 22/05/2021 08:24

Mine didn’t ask either and noone in the medical system knows about my pregnancy yet.

It’s 100% because all in our age bracket are being offered pregnancy-recommended vaccines anyway - there’s literally no reason to include the question anymore :)

The staff at 111 are often not involved in the tech updates of the online system so probably wouldn’t really know.

alahwvaha · 22/05/2021 08:40

@LilacSloth you're correct, I noticed it said that yesterday OP when I booked so I think you must have just missed it when booking. All under 40s are only being sent for vaccines suitable for pregnancy anyway so the question is only being specifically asked of over 40s and then double checked at the vaccine locations.

I have mine booked for today 😊

mummyh2016 · 22/05/2021 08:53

Same. And I only had my BFP yesterday so the NHS definitely does not know!

elvis4nuts · 22/05/2021 08:55

I absolutely agree this needs to be clearer then booking!

elvis4nuts · 22/05/2021 08:55

Unfortunately I booked before the under 40 guidelines changed and had a wasted journey 🤦🏼‍♀️

WaitingForNormality · 22/05/2021 08:56

It doesn't need to ask if you're under 40 because no one under 40 is offered a vaccine other than Pfizer or Moderna. It will only ask if you're 40+

Cafeaulait27 · 22/05/2021 09:57

I think my baby brain didn’t notice that it says it will know you are pregnant and will only show centres that do those vaccines. Plus the under 40 thing too! Don’t know why I didn’t think about that haha!

Think I just panicked and really didn’t want a wasted journey as well have to travel further.

But all booked now so I’m excited! Xx
