C section vs induction 37 weeks.

I’m due to get induced on 28/05 due to reduced movements for the last 7 week, I will be 37+4. However I am now very very worried about induction and think I would honestly prefer a c section. I have read almost every singe website on c sections and I know how much better it would be for elective in comparison to emergency ones. I am scared of having an emergency one I would much rather it be planned.
Is it possible for me to ask for a section instead?

Yes you can ask for a c section purely because you want one. They might say no but then have to refer you to someone who will say yes x

Yes you can ask for one.

Having had both I would opt for elcs over induction too.

Following bc I feel like I’m going to be asked to be induced early again: I was induced 2 years ago due to reduced movements 1 I was 37+5, LO born next day and spent a week in NICU and I’m sure the induction had something to do with it. She had fluid on her lungs which caused an infection which some believe is because she came out too quickly and didn’t have enough time to expel the fluid through the birth canal.

If I’m in the same situation again, I think I’d go for a pessary, wait 24hrs then if that doesn’t work out for a elcs.

I had a really positive experience with induction around 37 weeks due to obstetric cholestasis. Birth went smoothly and baby was fine. At the time my doctor told me I was no more likely to need an emergency c section than a woman being induced later.

Wishing you a good birth whatever you choose, op.

I've had both and I much, much preferred the section experience. Having said that, it's most safe for babies to be born via sections after 39 weeks (which is when I had mine)- so if I were you I would do some reading into this.

Yes you have every right to the birth you request. I’ve had 3 c sections and would choose that over induction any day.
Good luck.

I had my c section refused and I just took it on the chin. Induced at 38 weeks. 2 hour labour. No stitches etc. I did have a PPH of 1 litre blood loss which was expected but no transfusion needed.

In hindsight. So happy I didn't fight for the c section!

I also had induction with my dd and it was fine!
Inductions get a bad rep but ultimately it's your choice.

I was convinced I was having a section until my 36 week appointment too!
