20 weeks severe pain in leg and hip

I am 20 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing some lower back throughout the pregnancy. This is my second pregnancy. However over the past few days I have been getting severe pain in lower left back and hip and through my left leg. The pain intensifies at night and last night I was kept awake with the severity of the pain and tonight its starting to get the same with it starting in my back travelling down through my leg. I had something like this my last pregnancy but not as painful and not until I was over 34 weeks. Shall I contact a midwife or is there not much can be done I am in a lot of pain.

If you are in severe pain then you should be speaking to a medical professional.

Sounds exactly like my sciatica which got progressive ly worse to the point where I was limping everywhere and could barely walk. I had to pay to see a chiropractor who sorted it in one session with some vigorous (and painful!) massage. Your midwife will just refer you to physiotherapist which will take weeks and may even have to be over the phone due to covid, don't ask me how on earth they can do or fix anything over the phone!?😂

The appointment was £45 but completely worth it :)

Google "pelvic girdle pain". This sounds exactly like mine. there's a lot of exercises you can do, and some yoga which will help, as well as avoiding certain positions.

I do think it could be sciatica i wouldn't even mind paying at this rate for the pain is unbearable but during the day I have no pain which baffles me, I've had to get my partner to put like freezing cream on me to help reduce the pain but it only works for so long. I defiently will ring my midwife tomorrow

sciatica. you need to see a physio and get exercises which will clear it up quite fast. but you may need to shout and make a fuss to get it, the physio i saw tried to tell me i only had 2 months to go so i could manage without doing anything!! i had to insist on being given exercises. i got stuck in the living room once standing on one leg, which would have been funny if it wasn't so painful. acupuncture also helped me.
