Hi. I have very bad spd and it's getting worse and worse. I'm 32 weeks and can barley stand even with crutches. Hurts to do anything now 😣. And it making me feel pretty crap
I have a consultant appointment next week but I wanna know if I can b induced early and how early. I have to other children to run around for and a dog other half isn't living with us so only around half of the time.
Obviously I want baby to be safe and healthy so don't wanna put them at any risk but for my mental health and body I need this baby to be early.

Never had spd with first 2 babies. 1st was emergency c-sec 4 days early and 2nd was v-bac I was induced 10days early. I also have spinal problems before being pregnant. Also had a growth scan yesterday estimated weight is 4lb 2oz.

Please help with any advice can't like this for another 8 weeks 😣

Have you got a chiropractor nearby as they will do hands on treatment to ease the pain? I had to go private as NHS physio was just about management not actually treating the problem!

I cant give you any advice on the c section. However I have read articles where people have been induced early due to spd.

I had it with both my pregnancies. First I didn't really realise it wasnt normal pregnancy aches and pains. 2nd time It started way earlier and was hideous with a toddler to deal with to. Could barely walk. Now i find myself pregnant with surprise baby 3.. and 6 weeks in I've had some of those familiar pains..

I really really sympathize with you as its unbearable and makes everyday things very hard to do. I had physio last time which didnt really help, however they do suggest sitting on a gym ball which did actually help to relieve the pain a little. Also they give you a support band which is like a giant stretchy bandage that goes round your hips and bump, again this helped a bit but my bump was so huge it felt to tight and uncomfortable. Speak to your midwife about referral for physio.

My tips are pushing trolley/buggy makes it alot worse. Try not to walk to much, they said no more than 5mins. Which isnt really doable but as little as possible. Keep your legs together and not sit legs out to the sides or crossed. And when getting in and out of the car keep legs together and turn, even put a carrier bag on the seat to help turning. Hope that helps a little xx

It might just be the hospital I'm with but my consultant was very unsympathetic about the spd/pgp I've been suffering with. It started at about 15 weeks and I'm on crutches mostly now at 37 weeks. It hurts to sit, stand, walk, lay down, turn over, everything. I had a physio appointment (over the phone) and was doing everything they already suggested. The consultant basically said I've made it this far, I only have a couple of weeks left to go she's sure I'll be fine. 😱😢
Just don't get your hopes up for an induction.
But you consultant might be a LOT nicer than mine! Keeping my fingers crossed for you and sending you lots of gentle hugs, being in so much pain all the time makes you really miserable doesn't it? ☹️ xxx

I will try a chiropractor. The physio team I found r hopeless. Have only had a phone call then went in for crutches told how to use them then off I went again.

I tried the support belt before crutches but it did absolutely nothing for me. Will invest in a gym ball.

I'm really sorry to hear that ur consultant has been like that with you! So much more harder when you feel like that the help or even compassion isn't there with the professionals.

Yes the pain really does get to you 😥. I find my self in tears most days

I wouldn't even be able to take my kids to school if i didn't have crutches.

Oh how awful. Yes I really rate a chiropractor. I know she sees some ladies in the last week or two and it can still massively help. I've been going since about 12 weeks as I knew NHS phone physio just wasn't going to stop it getting worse as I have an underlying back issue anyway.

You need the massive tubigrip that’s thigh to bust to support you. I got mine fitted my the physio.

I ended up hiring a mobility scooter from the local shop mobility for the last 9 weeks cost about £30 a month. Meant I could take the toddle to the park, shops etc.

I used osteopathy and acupuncture for pain relief.

SillyBry · 20/05/2021 12:01

I saw an osteopath at 30 weeks pregnant last time and it was AMAZING the difference she made. I said to her "why didn't I see you earlier?!" Just some relief from the pain was awesome - I'd got so crooked in my pelvis and back from the aches and pains, but she straightened me right up.

Good luck!
