Hello everyone I just wanted some advice on weight gain / personal experiences I have so far put on 9 pounds since going into the second trimester I'm averaging around a pound a week even tho I think it might catch up on me soon as I can't stop eating 🤭 being my first I don't have much experience with what would be a normal weight gain with a normal BMI pre pregnancy

@Flower11111 I am 21 weeks also and my weight gain really only started at 15/16 weeks. Your weight gain depends on your starting wait and BMI.

I have an app called pregnancy BMI and it has an upper and lower line that if I stay in I will be on track. I'm actually overweight with a BMI and so trying to keep my weight at the lower end so hopefully once the baby is born I'm actually in a better position.

I'm due 24 September with a little boy, I already have a little girl who's 18 months. How about you?

@Jary6 hello 😊
Your app sounds helpful I am due end of September with my first and we are having a boy 👶🤗 I'm only 5.3 and before pregnancy was 10.4 so I was at the higher end of healthy / just a bit overweight but a reasonably good BMI I'm gaining a pound a week from the second trimester. I think I'll ask my midwife if this is ok as I've calculated I'm going to be at least just over another stone bigger if I follow a pound a week it's all very new to me being my first so not sure what to rely on but maybe I'll download your app and see if that helps too. Is it an app you pay for in App Store?
And congratulations on your pregnancy I think we have to remember how amazing our bodies are and give them respect 😌 I think listening to your body is important too I honestly do think you need a lot more food pregnant I have always tried to stay a size 10/12 before pregnancy pretty much with what felt like starving myself with -1,300 calories a day and said to myself I'm not doing this "eating for 2" but I can see how it happens 😂😅🤰🏻🤭

Haha the joys eh!
Def speak to your midwife next time you see her, but I think she'll say it's just a guide and to try to eat healthily, exercise sensibly and let your body lead? Everyone's different. In both my pregs I've put on weight in fits and starts, so I plateau for a bit and then pile on 3lb in a week Grin I reckon try to focus on your lifestyle rather than the actual number on the scales, and enjoy the occasional treat alongside a generally healthy diet?
I'm quite similar to you in pre-preg size, and my last preg I put on some non-baby weight (like on my back etc), but it just melted away afterwards, so I'm not too worried this time around.

The app is free I believe and I used it for my first as well was definitely worth while. I'm using it this time as I was losing weight before I found out I was pregnant so I'm using it to ensure I don't overeat and come out where I hoped to be at the end of this year and it seems to be on track.

I am normally a 14/16 weight so have some to lose and am classed as middle of overweight. I'm 6kg less than the first pregnancy and am trying to focus on that but it is true that you should just do what your body needs. If your hungry then eat because at different times during the pregnancy your baby will demand more from you and it's important not to restrict their diet.
