Low lying placenta at 22 weeks - I haven't been told to do anything, do I need to rest or....

abstain from sex?

The sonographer did seem very relaxed about it, but I think the placenta is currently completely covering the cervix.

I have made the mistake of googling so know about all the complications, but it seems that people are generally told to take it easy and not have sex etc - should I do this, or can I carry on as normal (not that I am having rampant sex every night, but you know...

also, I wondered whether anyone had had this who has also has to take Clexane or other blood thinning drugs - my mind is in overload about the effect of this on a placenta praevia/c section and the risks of me bleeding to death.

Hi Polly.
Try and look back at the old threads, i was told at 22 weeks that i had a low lying placenta-Was told No sex at all until 35 weeks when i go back for a scan to see if its gone up and in the mean time i see my gp every two weeks and i will be going to see my mw at 30 weeks- if it has not gone up was told to prepare myself for a scan-a women in my antenatal yoga has the same prob she is 32 weeks . so good luck iam not working now as i need to rest my gp said i should take it easy. I am now 26 weeks and feeling like the placenta is on my knees when i walk.
Stop googling its scary!

Hi Ruva, yes I did look at the old threads, and it is those that alerted me to the no sex rule - everyone else seems to have been told things, but I was just told to go away until 36 weeks and not worry

Googling was a mistake!

I had that with both pregnancies and like you, I Googled the first time and scared myself as I read about Placenta Previa which I confused with low lying placenta. Anyway, was scanned later on and both times it moved. I was told to think of it like a dot on a balloon and as the balloon inflates the mark moves somewhat. Am waffling now but just want to say-don't worry.
