When did your period return after a MMC?

Hey ladies,

I know everyone is different, however I had an ERPC or a “D&C” Friday (unsure what the correct term is sorry) for a missed miscarriage... I was 12w when I had the procedure but the baby’s heartbeat stopped around 9w they believe.

I was just wondering how long did it take for your first AF to arrive? Aware it depends on how far gone you were and peoples bodies heal
at different paces etc. But would just love to know what people’s experiences were and timelines for AF.

I had a d&c last year and my period came back 3 weeks later

Yup I didn't have much tissue left when I had mine it was just taking to long to pass that's why I had a D&C. I had very little bleeding none by they time I left hospital so I took it as my period 3 weeks later

I took the full 2 weeks (or is it 3, I forget) to get a negative test after my missed miscarriage was surgically treated at 10 weeks. I didn't get a period for 8 weeks - I'd seen the GP about it that day and they'd ordered some tests, then of course AF arrived that day.

I got pregnant again 3 months later, had another miscarriage at 5 weeks, then again 2 months after that and am now 33 weeks. Good luck.

I'm 6 weeks post erpc for mmc and no period yet. I did have retained products and only stopped bleeding 2.5 weeks ago so not sure when to expect my period! Sounds like it could be soon though if I follow the 3 weeks after (assuming 3 weeks from when I stopped bleeding)

@BaaBaaEmily how did you know you had retained products? Yes well I mean I did a Preg test around 22nd May think it was and was positive and did one Friday just gone and was negative, and now the bleeding. So hopefully yours comes soon 🤞🏻

I had a positive pregnancy test 3 weeks after surgery and was still bleeding! Part of me hopes I'll be one of the lucky people who falls pregnant straight away without getting a period, but I literally have no idea where I might be in my cycle (or if I'll even ovulate) so who knows!

@BaaBaaEmily Oh I see…. Ok.

Well you can def get pregnant before you get a period (have read it online). Your body does ovulate although they recommend waiting for a period to come and then to try again. But I’ve read a few ppl on here who haven’t waited and fell pregnant before a period has come. Maybe you should buy some ovulation sticks which will tell you when you are ovulating. Good luck TTC 💐

@shellyt2188 Hiya, I'm sorry for your loss. I'm in a slightly similar situation. I miscarried 4th January and had surgical management 17th of June. It's been 13 weeks since my operation and still no period.. did you get yours in the end?xx

Hey @Kele94, sorry to hear you’re in a similar situation. Nope, it’s now been 25 weeks since I had surgical management and still no period!! I had blood tests the other week and all were fine so now just waiting for a date for an ultrasound so they can check my lining and hopefully see what’s going on! Fingers crossed yours comes soon, I know it’s such a stressful situation and never thought I’d be in a position I’d be hoping to get my period each month..! Xx

@shellyt2188 omg 25 weeks!! I can't imagine how you must be feeling. Did you have regular periods before? I'm having bloods done Wednesday to check for any hormone imbalances so I'm hoping they come back ok as well xx

@Kele94 yep very regular periods before! And I’m still getting regular ovulation and period pain, but that’s it…! Honestly it’s a nightmare. Fingers crossed your bloods all come back ok and they get to the cause soon xx

Hey all!

Just wanted to update on here, the bleed that started on 8th was definitely my period… I bled for around 5days (which I normally do) and then started using clear blue OPK after, and ovulated when I was supposed to ovulate and the dates of ovulation were exact for what they should be. (My cycles/ovulation were very regular prior to pregnancy/MMC).

So from the above would guess that it was definitely AF. We did try again and DTD around ovulation, so we shall see if AF arrives in a couple of weeks or not. This is our last shot before we stop due to our wedding etc. So I’m hoping for a BFP again 🤞🏻
